Śrī Rādhā Kuṇḍa

Śrī Rādhā Kuṇḍa

“Just as Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī is most dear to Śrī Kṛṣṇa, Her
bathing place [Rādhā-kuṇḍa] is also dear to Him. Among all the
gopīs, Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī is supermost and very dear to Lord Kṛṣṇa.”

Śrīla Prabhupāda reveals the Glory of Rādhā-kuṇḍa

vaikuṇṭhāj janito varā madhu-purī tatrāpi rāsotsavād
vṛndāraṇyam udāra-pāṇi-ramaṇāt tatrāpi govardhanaḥ
rādhā-kuṇḍam ihāpi gokula-pateḥ premāmṛtāplāvanāt
kuryād asya virājato giri-taṭe sevāṁ vivekī na kaḥ

vaikuṇṭhāt—than Vaikuṇṭha, the spiritual world; janitaḥ—because of birth; varā—better; madhu-purī—the transcendental city known as Mathurā; tatra api—superior to that; rāsa-utsavāt—because of the performance of the rāsa-līlā; vṛndā-araṇyam—the forest of Vṛndāvana; udāra-pāṇi—of Lord Kṛṣṇa; ramaṇāt—because of various kinds of loving pastimes; tatra api—superior to that; govardhanaḥ—Govardhana Hill; rādhā-kuṇḍam—a place called Rādhā-kuṇḍa; iha api—superior to this; gokula-pateḥ—of Kṛṣṇa, the master of Gokula; prema-amṛta—with the nectar of divine love; āplāvanāt—because of being overflooded; kuryāt—would do; asya—of this (Rādhā-kuṇḍa); virājataḥ—situated; giri-taṭe—at the foot of Govardhana Hill; sevām—service; vivekī—who is intelligent; na—not; kaḥ—who.

TRANSLATION: The holy place known as Mathurā is spiritually superior to Vaikuṇṭha, the transcendental world, because the Lord appeared there. Superior to Mathurā-Purī is the transcendental forest of Vṛndāvana because of Kṛṣṇa’s rāsa-līlā pastimes. And superior to the forest of Vṛndāvana is Govardhana Hill, for it was raised by the divine hand of Śrī Kṛṣṇa and was the site of His various loving pastimes. And, above all, the superexcellent Śrī Rādhā-kuṇḍa stands supreme, for it is overflooded with the ambrosial nectarean prema of the Lord of Gokula, Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Where, then, is that intelligent Person who is unwilling to serve this divine Rādhā-kuṇḍa, which is situated at the foot of Govardhana Hill?

PURPORT:
The spiritual world is three fourths of the total creation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and it is the most exalted region. The spiritual world is naturally superior to the material world; however, Mathurā and the adjoining areas, although appearing in the material world, are considered superior to the spiritual world because the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself appeared at Mathurā. The interior forests of Vṛndāvana are considered superior to Mathurā because of the presence of the twelve forests (dvādaśa-vana), such as Tālavana, Madhuvana and Bahulāvana, which are famous for the various pastimes of the Lord. Thus the interior Vṛndāvana forest is considered superior to Mathurā, but superior to these forests is the divine Govardhana Hill because Kṛṣṇa lifted Govardhana Hill like an umbrella, raising it with His lotuslike beautiful hand to protect His associates, the denizens of Vraja, from the torrential rains sent by the angry Indra, King of the demigods. It is also at Govardhana Hill that Kṛṣṇa tends the cows with His cowherd friends, and there also He had His rendezvous with His most beloved Śrī Rādhā and engaged in loving pastimes with Her. Rādhā-kuṇḍa, at the foot of Govardhana, is superior to all because it is there that love of Kṛṣṇa overflows. Advanced devotees prefer to reside at Rādhā-kuṇḍa because this place is the site of many memories of the eternal loving affairs between Kṛṣṇa and Rādhārāṇī (rati-vilāsa).

In Caitanya-caritāmṛta (Madhya-līlā) it is stated that when Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu first visited the area of Vrajabhūmi, He could not at first find the location of Rādhā-kuṇḍa. This means that Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu was actually searching for the exact location of Rādhā-kuṇḍa. Finally He found the holy spot, and there was a small pond there. He took His bath in that small pond and told His devotees that the actual Rādhā-kuṇḍa was situated there. Later the pond was excavated by Lord Caitanya’s devotees, headed first by the six Gosvāmīs, such as Rūpa and Raghunātha dāsa. Presently there is a large lake known as Rādhā-kuṇḍa there. Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī has given much stress to Rādhā-kuṇḍa because of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu’s desire to find it. Who, then, would give up Rādhā-kuṇḍa and try to reside elsewhere? No person with transcendental intelligence would do so.
The importance of Rādhā-kuṇḍa, however, cannot be realized by other Vaiṣṇava sampradāyas, nor can persons uninterested in the devotional service of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu understand the spiritual importance and divine nature of Rādhā-kuṇḍa. Thus Rādhā-kuṇḍa is mainly worshiped by the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavas, the followers of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu. (NOI Text 9)

  1. Pamho agtacbsp, unfortunately nowadays SRI RADHA KUNDA is polluted by brahmana raksasa,is not the case that SBSSTP called it NARAKA KUNDA,is full of envious demons who are waiting for the videshi the devotees to give them money, then kali yuga influence is very strong even in the holy dham we can find many wretchs still with the brahminical thread around the neck by selling alcohol, girls etc…is not safe anymore better to do manasa seva considered the pollution all around caurasi Kosi area of vraja Mandala parikrama, many vrja basi forgot their dharma because kali yuga is the most contagious age full glanir faults irregularities, quarrel and hypocrisy etc… one can ask why all this trouble is there for me.and KRSNA can say why the material world is there? i mean is supposed to not be there since KRSNA created us perfect and blissful then we deserved all these troubles to become more serious in the safe way back at home with the help of HDG ACBSP because the material world is troubled KRSNA because born from the refusal to serve SSGG therefore the material world trouble us as a false reflection of the reality connected to SRI KRSNA i mean we get out of the material world only when we stop to trouble KRSNA by asking HIM material things.thats all otherwise we get more in trouble as soon as one trouble KRSNA as soon as one get trouble.agtacbsp ys haribol

  2. Pamho agtacbsp, the holy dham become the worse place to live in future within this kali yuga, the main problem is to follow the four rules and regulations constantly because a anartha call another unwanted habit until one get completely degraded, everyone got the power inside to follow the four rules of liberation and until one refuse to follow it one get cheated because to not follow properly caused this cheating reaction then KRSNA can make us happy in a second so we don’t need to work hard for our unwanted habit ,unfortunately the influence of kali devi is very strong in kali yuga that’s why many followers chant 16 rounds offer gayatri ararti etc.. while keeping the bad habit of smoking and drinking coffee ,of course is better to keep chanting even if one smoke because without chanting the bad habit get worse although one trying to stop while the mind increase the anartha but if one is able still to chant 16 rounds and other prayers means that is not the moment to stop anartha I mean one must wait for the right moment place and circumstances because anartha our unwanted habit is the second nature of the soul but are not eternal activities of the soul while krsna consciousness is our eternal nature activities ,life, etc…agtacbsp ys haribol

  3. Pamho agtacbsp, learned living entity means he must know his spiritual personality because unless we find that blissful and perfect spiritual body we are considered still not learned enough in few words we are still in ignorance mixed with some goodness and a lot of passion. thats why we are still here because we are still under the three guna of material nature who less who more I mean there are not so many PRABHUPADA around the planet but at least we got the way out from this uncivilized society while many people is still looking in for how to get out from this misery of the cycle of birth and death and they are suffer a lot , anyway great moment take time because the moment we go back home is already stored only for those who are keeping going with SRILA PRABHUPADA and not with ordinary people in the guise of guru when they are rogue against SRILA PRABHUPADA final order.agtacbsp ys haribol

  4. Pamho agtacbsp,I’m sure if we doing a MAHA YAJNA altogether around the world with purity a strong faith in SRILA PRABHUPADA we can bring peace to this rotten society of wretches making by disgust people, to get the power from SSGG to destroy our miserable hidden enemies and is not the case that we got the best weapon to fight back all these miserables creatures who always take the peace away from us but if we using our weapon properly through the MMHK we can destroy all the malefic of this polluted world of uncivilized citizens. We never giving up the fight with our invisibles enemies inside and outside us by using our supreme weapon of the holy name of SRI KRSNA at our best capacity, that’s the main point in our philosophy to realize the power of the MAHA MANTRA HARE KRSNA first then come RUPA form.then come GUNA the quality and in the end LILA by entering in the eternal pastime of SRI KRSNA with our svarupa murti manifested and finished once for all these battles with the unknown enemies,we trying to avoid the material suicide by fighting in back since we already make spiritual suicide and many ordinary people make suicide materially too, so we are against that even if we got plenty of harassment we never do that by taking shelter in the holy name of SRI KRSNA. 5. Pamho agtacbsp, the evil must be destroy in KC because if the evil remains KRSNA CONSCIOUSNESS will destroy the evil, the problem is that we are living in a evil world therefore the enemy look stronger by playing in the own house but SRI KRSNA is the supreme proprietor therefore the evil need to get out from KC like to offer bhoga on the altar to rogues is evil to keep doing GURU AVAJNA is evil etc…we can destroy all the evil through SSGG mercy.agtacbsp ys haribol
