“We changed Srila Prabhupada’s books because his teachings are outdated“
Facebook Comments on Panca Ratna
John Gensler posted this. Any comments?
I just saw Pancha Ratna (Pancharatna here on FB) at the Prabhupada Festival in New Dvarka, Los Angeles yesterday, who was sitting with Patrikananda. He made some rather disturbing comments regarding the 1972 edition of Bhagavad-Gita As It Is:
“No one wants to read it.”
“No one will buy it.”
“It will never be printed or used by ISKCON again.”
“We changed Srila Prabhupada’s books because his teachings are outdated and ISKCON needed a modern message.”
I showed him, and asked him to read Srila Prabhupada’s title below his photo, from the 1972 edition, which he reluctantly read aloud, and expressed his annoyance: “greatest exponent of Krsna consciousness in the western world“, and then commented that it should have been stripped out of JAS book, because it’s “unnecessary”.
When I informed him that Srila Prabhupada wrote it himself, he said “I doubt that, but even if it was written by Srila Prabhupada, it should be removed, and it’s unneeded.”
“Srila Prabhupada’s books were filled with mistakes and had to be edited.”
“When ISKCON sold Srila Prabhupada’s original books, during the 1970’s, the sales and interest in his books, no where comes near the interest people show towards JAS’s editions.”
Mike Crawford – I like Pancaratna’s personality but being a bought and paid for Iskcon company man clouds his intelligence. ………..
Padmagarbha Das – Mahasrngara, how can you ‘like’ ANY part of somebody who insults Srila Prabhupada as has this snake in the grass. He is not 12 years old and can therefore hide behind the excuse of being immature and stupid, and easily influenced by bad association. He ‘chose’ to be “bought and paid for”!
Mike Crawford Padmagarbha Das Hate the sin, not the sinner. He’s done a lot of devotional service which is pleasing to Prabhupada. This is Kali Yuga so there’s no where to hide. Still hiding in the woods?
Padmagarbha Das Mike Crawford my question to you was, “how can you ‘like’ ANY part of somebody who insults Srila Prabhupada”. There was no mention of “hate”. However, there are different degrees/forms of “sin”. One who engages in ‘sinful’ activities due to weakness, such as illicit sex, or taking intoxication is not on the same level as one who rapes and murders a child. With the former [with someone who is ‘weak’] the saying “hate the sin and not the sinner” is perhaps appropriate, while the latter, the individual who has killed the child, he is justifiable due sever condemnation, and even hate [certainly by the parents of that child], and he should be punished most harshly by society.
As far as someone insulting/blaspheming a pure devotee of the Lord, in this case our spiritual master, His Divine Grace Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, such a person[s] certainly deserves absolute and merciless condemnation. And Panca Ratna’s ignorant and most insulting words, in particular “We changed Srila Prabhupada’s books because his teachings are outdated ” are absolutely inexcusable. In the context of Srila Prabhupada telling us numerous times that “His books are going to be the Law Books for the next ten thousand years”, those words, coming from one pretending to be Srila Prabhupada’s disciple, they qualify in my eyes as being extremely blasphemous.
If I recall correctly, in Vaisnava tradition one who insults ones spiritual master should actually be killed, and if that is not possible [practical], then certainly this person should be totally shunned, treated as a vile outcast.
This is what Srila Bhaktisiddhanta says of someone criticizing or insulting ones spiritual master: “May I never see the wicket face of that evil person who maligns the lotus feet of my Sri Guru Deva, or anyone who countenances such a slanderer.”
Maha Srngara, for you to attempt to deflect any harsh criticism of Panca Ratna, on the grounds of his likable ‘personality’, and that he has performed ‘a lot of devotional service’, brings me to present the following “analogy”.
Let’s say in a large extended family there is an elderly uncle, he is quite wealthy, very funny, most pleasant company, and extremely generous. As a matter of fact, he has helped pay off the mortgage of some of his siblings, and even put large sums of money into the college funds of all his younger nieces and nephews, acts that are certainly all very much appreciated by everyone. However, if at some point it is discovered that all along, over the years this ‘much loved and appreciated’ uncle has been molesting several of his nieces and/or nephews, who then would not condemn and despise this man? And, who would then dare remind those appalled and outraged by this man’s despicable actions with, “But let’s remember his ‘pleasant’ company, his generosity, and especially all the money he put into those nieces and nephews college funds.”
Hare Krishna Prabhu’s. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and his original transcendental books.
It is a little confusing, who said what to who?, but the venom coming from Pancharatna is a clear indication of a twisted, demonic personality! Demons who say such things should just be ignored. These demons are getting crazier and crazier!
“Those whom God wishes to destroy, He first makes mad!” (Euripides)
“Vinasha kale viparith buddhi” means that when one’s doom approaches, then one’s mind, one’s intelligence works perversely. This sloka (verse) is from Ramayana.
These are ALL are MAD MEN who want to change Srila Prabhupada’s books:
Adi 7.115 Lord Caitanya in Five Features
In this connection the Padma Purana states, arcye visnau sila-dhir gurusu NARA-MATIR vaisnave jati-buddhih: “One who considers the arca-murti, the worshipable Deity of Lord Visnu, to be stone, THE SPIRITUAL MASTER TO BE AN ORDINARY HUMAN BEING, and a Vaisnava to belong to a particular caste or creed, IS POSSESSED OF HELLISH INTELLIGENCE.” ONE WHO FOLLOWS SUCH CONCLUSIONS IS DOOMED.
Oh!………. if you are listening Pancharatna, thanks a lot for the ‘donation’ that you gave me (years ago) in India. As a former Laxmi collector, nothing was more exhilarating that relieving grihamedhi mudhas of their ”hard earned”. You will be glad to know (for your eternal benefit of course) that it was all spent in The Lord’s Service! So reassuring don’t you think?, especially as your position has become so untenable and toxic towards Srila Prabhupada! Yep, you need all the help you can get pal!
There is one born every minute! but in your case you and your demonic cohorts may have to wait just that little bit longer. Alas! what a sad, envious and pathetic creature you are!
When Srila Prabhupada gave permission for the publishing of Sri Brahma-samhita, Subhananda das explains in the Introduction as follows, page xvi>>
” As per Srila Prabhupada’s instructions regarding the publishing of this volume, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati’s somewhat technical and sometimes difficult prose has been left intact and virtually untouched. Fearing that any editorial (grammatical and stylistic) tampering with Bhaktisiddhanta’s text might result in inadvertent changes in meaning, Srila Prabhupada asked that it be left as is, and the editors of this volume have complied with his wishes. Only typographical errors have been corrected, capitalization has been standardized, Sanskrit terms in devanagari script appearing within the English text have been transliterated, and any already transliterated terms have been adjusted to international standards.
In this edition, the original devanagari text is shown for each verse of the Brahma-samhita, followed by roman transliteration, then by a word-for-word translation into English. (The original Indian edition lacked the latter two features). These in turn are followed by Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati’s FULL ENGLISH TRANSLATION AND COMMENTARY” (my emphasis).
In the Indian edition of Sri Brahma-samhita, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta included the complete text, in Sanskrit, of the the commentary of Srila Jiva Gosvami. I am fortunate to have an original edition of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati’s original book, printed in Madras, 1932, and can vouch that there was absolutely no change made in any of his translations or purports.
I state this to emphasize that even Srila Bhaktivedanta Svami Maharaj Srila Prabhupada, a pure unalloyed mahatma uttama-adikari devotee, would not change even ONE WORD of his spiritual master’s work, yet these upstarts dare change and re-write Srila Prabhupada’s divine words (at their own peril)!
Yfs,
Balaram das.
So this is what comes out of the mouths of demons, whilst sitting on the seat of Srila Vyasadeva, blaspheming The Acharya and his books also to an audience of rascals and fools who do not even object! ……….at the recent……yes you heard that right?

The city of demons not the city of angels!
(Isa 5:20 NIV) Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
This is a quote from the Bible, it pretty much says it all.
O.f.s.
Pancha ratna was just in Murwillumbah recently and had he performed his mati hata offences here I would have punched the rat and welcomed my reaction !
Dear Readers,
We learn from the Pure Devotee our Jagat Guru His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada’s writing in the
Purport of SB. 1.5.10 which reads ;
Crows and swans are not birds of the same feather because of their different mental attitudes. The fruitive workers or passionate men are compared to the crows, whereas the all-perfect saintly persons are compared to the swans. The crows take pleasure in a place where garbage is thrown out, just as the passionate fruitive workers take pleasure in wine and woman and places for gross sense pleasure. The swans do not take pleasure in the places where crows are assembled for conferences and meetings. They are instead seen in the atmosphere of natural scenic beauty where there are transparent reservoirs of water nicely decorated with stems of lotus flowers in variegated colors of natural beauty. That is the difference between the two classes of birds.
Nature has influenced different species of life with different mentalities, and it is not possible to bring them up into the same rank and file.
Similarly, there are different kinds of literature for different types of men of different mentality. Mostly the market literatures which attract men of the crow’s categories are literatures containing refused remnants of sensuous topics. They are generally known as mundane talks in relation with the gross body and subtle mind. They are full of subject matter described in decorative language full of mundane similes and metaphorical arrangements. Yet with all that, they do not glorify the Lord. Such poetry and prose, on any subject matter, is considered decoration of a dead body. Spiritually advanced men who are compared to the swans do not take pleasure in such dead literatures, which are sources of pleasure for men who are spiritually dead. These literatures in the modes of passion and ignorance are distributed under different labels, but they can hardly help the spiritual urge of the human being, and thus the swanlike spiritually advanced men have nothing to do with them. Such spiritually advanced men are called also mānasa because they always keep up the standard of transcendental voluntary service to the Lord on the spiritual plane. This completely forbids fruitive activities for gross bodily sense satisfaction or subtle speculation of the material egoistic mind.
Social literary men, scientists, mundane poets, theoretical philosophers and politicians who are completely absorbed in the material advancement of sense pleasure are all dolls of the material energy. They take pleasure in a place where rejected subject matters are thrown. According to Svāmī Śrīdhara, this is the pleasure of the prostitute-hunters.
But literatures which describe the glories of the Lord are enjoyed by the paramahaṁsas who have grasped the essence of human activities.
OM TAT SAT.
Hare Krishna. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.
