* Srila Prabhupada; We shall never change it. In any circumstance we will not change it. That is the difference

* Changing means material. Anything material is susceptible to change

Srila Prabhupāda: So, these rascals will change every year their theology. So, what is the value of their words? Childish. [break] …changes, he is a rascal. That is our… We say, “Kṛṣṇa the Supreme.” We never change it. And “Surrender is the only process.” We shall never change it. In any circumstance we will not change it. That is the difference. And these rascals will change every year their opinion. They are rascals. [break] …They are rascals. [break] Kṛṣṇa said that “I am the Supreme.” So Arjuna accepted, the Supreme. All the ācāryas accepted the Supreme. Caitanya Mahāprabhu accepted, Supreme. My Guru Mahārāja accepted, Supreme. I am accepting, Supreme. I am teaching the same thing. So, there is no change. Not that after a few years it will be changed. That never be. That is our position. [break] Changing means material. Anything material is susceptible to change. Like this material body. FIRST THEY CHANGED THE BHAGAVAD GITA, NOW EVEN THE SMALL BOOKS

So 4 books by Srila Prabhupada and their revised versions have been compared in the 4 links below.

Some interesting differences:

1. They have removed many verse references in revised editions.
2. They have put their new edition translations for select verses.
3. They have clipped quite a lot of small content in between and have inserted their own sentences.
4. In POY, they have changed the order of chapters.

In these PDFs, the year of revised editions is mentioned.

First they changed Srila Prabhupada’s books,
then his audio tapes, now some his transcripts also!

SO NOW THEY ARE CHANGING EVEN SOME PARTS OF
HIS TRANSCRIPTS JUST TO SATISFY THEIR PHILOSOPHY

In the following changed conversation, notice how SB 11.5.42 Sanskrit verse has been omitted. Instead of the Sanskrit they have put their own translation. Also in that some other words have been clipped here and there.

Original conversation:

Prabhupāda: Mercy means… Suppose you are a devotee. Unknowingly or by some bad habit you have done something wrong. That is excused. But if you intentionally do, that “I am devotee; Kṛṣṇa will excuse me,” then you are rascal.

Gopāla Kṛṣṇa: That’s the greatest offense.

Prabhupāda: Yes. Cheating. Cheating Kṛṣṇa. Cheating Kṛṣṇa is no business. That is to be punished. You cannot cheat Kṛṣṇa. But if by accident, knowingly or unknowingly, you have done something which is not good, that is excused. Sva-pāda-mūlaṁ bhajataḥ priyasya [SB 11.5.42]. If you are actually, because you have given so much service to Kṛṣṇa, you have become very dear to Him, so unknowingly you have done, committed sin—excused. Bhajataḥ priyasya. This word is used. You must have to become very dear to Him. Then if you accidentally commit some sin, that is excused.

Gurudāsa: What does “unknowingly” mean, Śrīla…

Prabhupāda: Unknowingly means… Suppose you are a smoker. So now you have given up everything. But in the association of some smoker you incline, “All right, let me smoke.” Then you regret, “Oh, I have done this.” It can happen. So that is excused. But if you think, “Now I am a devotee of Kṛṣṇa. I can smoke like anything, and everything will be excused,” then you are a rascal.

Morning walk, March 25,1976 Delhi

Changed adulterated conversation:

Prabhupada: Suppose you are a devotee. Unknowingly or by some bad habit you have done something wrong. That is excused. But if you intentionally do, that “I am devotee; Krsna will excuse me,” then you are rascal.

Gopala Krsna: That’s the greatest offense.

Prabhupada: Yes. Cheating. Cheating Krsna. Cheating Krsna is no business. That is to be punished. You cannot cheat Krsna. But if by accident, knowingly or unknowingly, you have done something which is not good, that is excused. [SB 11.5.42].’‘One who has thus given up all other engagements and has taken full shelter at the lotus feet of Hari, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is very dear to the Lord. Indeed, if such a surrendered soul accidentally commits some sinful activity, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is seated within everyone’s heart, immediately takes away the reaction to such sin.”

If you are actually, because you have given so much service to Krsna, you have become very dear to Him, so unknowingly you have done, committed sin — excused. You must have to become very dear to Him. Then if you accidentally commit some sin, that is excused.

Gurudasa: What does “unknowingly” mean

Prabhupada: Unknowingly means… Suppose you are a smoker. So now you have given up everything. But in the association of some smoker you incline, “All right, let me smoke.” Then you regret, “Oh, I have done this.” It can happen. So that is excused. But if you think, “Now I am a devotee of Krsna. I can smoke like anything, and everything will be excused,” then you are a rascal.

>>> Ref. VedaBase => Morning Walk — March 25, 1976, Delhi

So in this Vedabase, they have added their own translation of SB 11.5.42 clipping out the Sanskrit spoken by Srila Prabhupada.

I’m attaching below the original conversation as spoken by Srila Prabhupada. We can see what Srila Prabhupada spoke and how they have changed these transcripts.

EXPOSING THE BOOK CHANGES:
EXTENSIVE LIST OF MAJOR CHANGES IN
SRILA PRABHUPADA’S ORIGINAL BOOKS

Hare Krsna. It is known to many that Srila Prabhupada’s original books have undergone drastic changes. The editors have claimed that they have fixed only the grammatical errors and have kept the writings philosophically untouched, but this is not so. Therefore, the following list of book changes has been compiled to present the changes in an explicit manner for all to know. This analysis of book changes will clear the confusions and will encourage the devotees to stick to the original pre-1978 first edition books by Srila Prabhupada.

It should be noted that some of Srila Prabhupada’s books were changed even during his physical presence. Some of these are Srimad Bhagavatam [first four cantos], Isopanishad, Easy Journey To Other Planets, Teachings of Lord Caitanya. Some quotes are presented towards the end of the article which prove that even such revisions were rejected by Srila Prabhupada.

The comparisons have been done for both pre-1978 first editions and pre and post-1978 first and second editions. Hence the devotees are advised to read the first original editions of the pre-1978 books.

A Google drive of book changes articles has been compiled that consists of over 200 articles highlighting the impacts of the changes that pose as an impediment to the understanding the philosophy of Krsna consciousness. The articles can be found in the link that follows:

13. Śrī Īśopaniṣad changes:
Link:
https://draftable.com/compare/jUrZSmrsHrbI (1969 vs 1974 onwards)

Let us now hear what Srila Prabhupada says regarding such changes, as it is very important to follow exactly what he says.

Regarding Sri Isopanisad changes:

Yaśodā-nandana: In the Gurukula we were teaching Īśopaniṣad class to the children. So we took… [break] …Prabhupāda and the words which the recent edition of the Press is wrong. Many changes were brought. They were trying to make better English, but sometimes, to make better English, I think they were making philosophical mistakes also. There is no so much need of making so much better English. Your English is sufficient. It is very clear, very simple. We have caught over 125 changes. They’re changing so many things. We are wondering if this is necessary. I will show you today. I have kept the book.

Srila Prabhupāda: I know that these rascals are doing. What can be done? How they can be relied on? [Rascal editors conversation ,June 22,1977, Vrindavan]

Regarding Easy Journey to Other Planets changes:

Srila Prabhupāda: He cannot see mistake. He is mistake. (laughter) He should . . . that is being done by this rascal. I don’t want. And the Hayagrīva has . . . the Easy Journey, he has changed so many things. That . . . he is now bad character. You should not maintain him.  [Conversation A ,MAYAPUR – February 27, 1977]

Regarding Srimad Bhagavatam changes:

Yes, there is no need for corrections for the first and second Cantos. Whatever is there is alright. Once Pradyumna comes to join me here from India, then there will be no need for Nitai das or Jagannatha das to edit the Srimad-Bhagavatam.“ (Letter to Radhavallabha, May 4, 1976)

Important proof that the Macmillan 1972 Bhagavad Gita is the only original and authorised edition.

Dr. Vajpeye’s review we are going to print and widely distribute, especially in Bombay and Madras, where there is so much propaganda from these bogus gurus and yogis. He has got practical experience of how they are cheating the innocent people in foreign countries and he has written; “The authorized edition of Bhagavad-gita will help to stop the terrible cheating of ‘gurus’ and ‘yogis’ who are false and unauthorized.” [Letter to: Svarupa, Ranadhira, Mayapur-3 February, 1976 Los Angeles]

Note: Although on the whole one must get the first printings, there are the following few exceptions which were not first printings but were printed in the physical presence of Srila Prabhupada and were definitely not changed. They are:

Teachings of Lord Caitanya (1972)
Nectar of Devotion (1972)
Sri Isopanisad (1972)
Krsna Book (1974) “(Reference for the above quote: http://www.prabhupadanugas.eu/news/books/dspobfco.html)

It is hoped that this article will help the devotees to only read Srila Prabhupada’s first edition books that are unchanged.

  1. Pamho agtacbsp, Durga Devi puja ki jay, is true is not easy at all to understand the activity and thought of Sri Krishna but is evil to distroy what Sri krsna told to srila prabhupada in his books to save the world, this demoniac activity in changing Sri Sri guru gauranga books will lead them straight to the hell and we are waiting for this justice to take place very soon agtacbsp ys haribol

    • Hare Krsna Prabhupadanugas !

From a conversation dated 1/31/1977 from Prabhupadavani.org, starting at 4:21

Srila Prabhupada: “To know about Kṛṣṇa. It is not also difficult. Science of Kṛṣṇa is there, Bhagavad-gītā. Kṛṣṇa speaks Himself. So to know the science of Kṛṣṇa is also not difficult. But because we are unfortunate, we go to rascal, and they interpret Bhagavad-gītā in a rascaldom way, and you are missing. So you should be very careful not to go to a rascal. Then your mission will be successful.”

” If you want to purchase gold, you must go to a shop where actually gold is purchased, gold. If you do not know, then you’ll be cheated. That is not also very difficult. That I have repeatedly said. Those who are interpreting in their own way Bhagavad-gītā, he’s a rascal; he’s not guru. As soon as he says an interpretation, “I think like this,” you reject that. Why should we think like that? You should preach what Kṛṣṇa says. Then you are right. Why should you say something which Kṛṣṇa does not say? Then you are misguided. He does not know Kṛṣṇa. He’s not kṛṣṇa-tattva-vettā. So he’s cheating. That is going on….”

So easy to spot the truth and the lie, side by side, by the Grace of Srila Prabhuapda’s compassionate instructions to us fallen souls. It is so very unfortunate that cheaters lust to be cheated, and therein lies why it is near to impossible to help anyone who desires to be cheated, fit in, compromise etc.. However, when someone is intelligent enough to inquire into the truth, who, what, when, where, why and how, Prabhupada’s followers have it, and if for some foolish reason they reject it, no worries, Prabhupada’s followers still got it. Srila Prabhupada Ki Jaiiiiii !!!!!!

      Jaya Prabhupada !!!

    Pranams

This video presentation below is well worth watching. We have spent decades considering the original content of Srila Prabhupada’s books and for good reason. Yet it seems that we continue to restrict access to the world by ignoring the original method of dissemination of that knowledge as presented by the author Srila Prabhupada. So, we cannot raise awareness of the knowledge that Srila Prabhupada has given us by ignoring the hands on teaching of that knowledge as he would have done en masse. Is not the ignoring of our responsibilty as international leaders, teachers and representatives of Srila Prabhupad related directly to the changing of the books? Ignoring the teaching responsibility is the prime goal of the book changers. An evil but very clever distraction by those involved some who may be among us. If we do not raise that awareness through hands on teaching then we reduce the importance of his vast original works to numbers of books in a display of corruption. The topic should rather be how to get the original teachings into the hands of the world while we teach and set personal examples. One of which is the ability to express one’s understandings in writing so that real thinkers and scholars may read and gain a greater respect and interest for Srila Prabhupada’s first printing books.

This very important expose on the illegal book changes will in the least bog down any wide international or national teaching efforts by independant teachers who wish to go forward. Once the expose is done then another will start up revealing more book changes while still ignoring Srila Prabhupada’s original instruction to teach by practical example from his first printng books. There by delaying in another way the progress of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Caitanya’s movement.

To teach by practical example from first printng books is the activity alone that will defeat the book changers and save countless lives. It behooves those spending so much time on this worthy project to learn how to write a paragraph or two or weekly essays on the impact of the book changes on the world. That will give their efforts more credibility and boost their hubris. It is too bad that they cannot express their own understandings in this regard. We have.

  3. Dusyanta dasa says:

    Hare Krishna.
The axiomatic truth that cannot be changed is the 6th purpose of Iskcon by Srila Prabhupada.
The concept is to live a more natural and simple way of life to bring the devotees closer together and then to teach this lifestyle by demonstrating it practicably. Now as far as i am aware this is impossible to change. And because it has not been changed it has been extremely hard to demonstrate this lifestyle in Iskcon.

There is a mountain of evidence that illustrates how most of Iskcon live a capitalistic and consumeristic type life, not a simple natural lifestyle whatsoever. Of course there is plenty of lip service but really nothing substantial. To actually teach a simple natural way of life means giving up so much bad habits and reliance on conventional ways, chemical farming, exploitative dwellings and abusive economics.

This does not suit the inhabitants of Temple Iskcon who rely on huge incomes of money to pay for their extravagant lifestyles.

To actually live a simple natural lifestyle means to live predominantly a mode of goodness life, being very self-sufficient, growing all your own foods and most importantly protecting Cows and Bees, therefore not a vegan philosophical deviation.

Another huge point is the eating of Onions and Garlic which has become fashionable in Iskcon. In fact in a story related by Srila Prabhupada He illustrated how Garlic and Onions expanded from a dead Cows hooves and ankles and in Vaisnava terms are defined as Meat.

My point is clear; If Iskcon had actually followed Srila Prabhupada by not adding anything and not taking away anything then many of the problems that have arisen from lack of lifestyles in the mode of goodness would not exist. Iskcon has missed the whole point on how to live, what economic model to follow and how to teach this to others.

As far as i can see this has been one of Iskcon’s biggest mistakes because it impacts directly on to so many other problems, a bit like dominoes being placed near each other and the first one knocks the next one down and so on.

The Book changes are a manifestation of the causes of the problems, because Iskcon is just so far behind where it should be today if they had followed Srila Prabhupada. And as we will witness, more and more will go down in Iskcon. They cant even get Cow Protection right. Its just one mess after another and to be honest we are all better off without that type of Iskcon, they have failed miserably.

“You become ideal civilized man. Others will follow”

    From a three book series.

    From What Srila Prabhupada Wanted

Direction for The Krsna Consciousness Movement
As Revealed from the Conversations of His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta swami Prabhupada
Founder Acharya of the International Society for Krsna Consciousness

    Editor Gopinataha Acarya Das Brahmacari

From Morning Walk Conversation of May 28th, 1974 in Rome, page 215

Yogesvara: Srila Prabhupada, the way you’ve been describing our solutions to the problems of the world, they seem to be on two levels. One is the extended solution, that is to say, the ultimate solution of Krsna consciousness.
Prabhupada: No, there is no question of extended. You keep yourself in a limited solution. And then when, when it is appreciated it will be automatically extended. You become ideal civilized man. Others will follow.

Yogesvara: Well, for examples, ultimately, we want to live locally. These cities are not necessary.

Prabhupada: No, you make the best use of a bad bargain. We shall depend more…Just like in New Vrindaban. They are coming to the city for preaching. So not absolutely we can abstain immediately because we have been dependent so long, many, many lives. You cannot. But the ideal should be introduced gradually. And make it perfect more and more and more and more. But there is possibility.
Possibility if you live locally and make your arrangement, you get your foods… The real necessity is, bodily necessity is, eating, sleeping, mating, and defending. This is necessity. So if you can eat locally, you can sleep locally, you can have your sex life also locally and you can defend locally, then what is the wrong? These are the necessities. We are not stopping this. We are not stopping, “No more sex life.” That is nonsense, another nonsense. You must have. Marry. That’s all. So you can marry locally and live. Where is the difficulty?
Defend. If somebody comes to attack, there must be men to defend. And eating and sleeping. Where is your difficulty? Manage locally, as far as possible. After all, these are the necessities of the body. So it can be solved locally. Is it impossible? To solve the bodily necessities? What do you think? Is it impossible?
Satsvarupa: No, it is very simple.
Prabhupada: Then do it. Do it Set. example perfectly.
