In the East Village, a Hidden Temple from The Local East Village on Vimeo.
Prabhus, PAMHO. AGTSP!
The Huffington Post published a short article yesterday about the ritvik temple in New York City’s Lower East Side near Tomkins Square Park, a sacred place of pilgrimage where Srila Prabhupada lead America’s first public sankirtan party in 1966:
“A parade of drumming Hare Krishnas is a familiar sight in the East Village. Less well known is the tension that has splintered the movement into separate factions. Followers who call themselves the Iskcon Revival Movement broke off from the mainstream movement and founded their own temple on St Marks Place in 1999. “We’re not welcome, simply put, in the temples,” says Vani Wulfhoop, a founder of the East Village temple. But less than a year later, the the Iskcon Revival Movement lost their lease.
“The Local East Village posted a [5 minute] video [<http://vimeo.com/15569323>] about Vani and Brahmabuta-Das Wulfhoop and how they converted their apartment into a makeshift temple.”

Your servant, Pratyatosa Dasa
I am very sorry to hear that the center is closed ,and ran out of lease ,but before it ran out ,another location was not sort out ? I saw Mr Bhiku bhai ( indian gentleman ) very nice devotee ,could he not have raised funds from indian sympathisiers,i feel bad for not keeping in touch with Bramabutta prabhu and mother Vani ,who was cleaning the area around the tree where Srila Prabhupada sat under this tree and started his kirtan ,this was the beginning of iskcon, the care taker would watch her and after a long period of time asked her what is the significant why she was doing such and after her devotion to Srila Prabhupada now there is a plaque because her love and dedication to Srila Prabhupada, all glories to her service .I feel very bad i wish i could have raised funds among indians for the center, thus i am most unfortunate.
