Feb 04, 2011 — London, UK — The concept of the presence of the Diksa Guru to initiate in his physical form exclusively is not born out of scriptural evidence. What the physically present vadis don’t take into account is the vibrational form of the Diksa Guru and Siksa Guru and Supreme Lord.
In fact for the physically present vadis they have to commit offence in the discharge of their devotional service to support such a thesis.
As we should all know by now in Caitanya Caritamrita 1.47, Srila Prabhupada instructs clearly that.
“There is no difference between the shelter-giving Supreme Lord and the initiating and instructing Spiritual Masters. If one foolishly discriminates between them, he commits an offence in the discharge of devotional service.”
The physically present theorists have to ignore quotes like this from Srila Prabhupada because discrimination between the Diksa Guru and Shiksa Guru and the Supreme Lord is what they are all about.
If they accepted that there is no-difference between the Diksa Guru and Shiksa Guru then Initiation from the Diksa Guru in his vibrational form is possible.
Not only do the physically present theorists discriminate between the Diksa Guru and Siksha Guru but they also discriminate against devotees publishing articles on the Sampradaya Sun. So we find that the Sun is manicured, designed and presented with discrimination in mind.
When articles are presented that challenge their very own opinions then discrimination is metered out, so there is no possibility of the neutral readership being exposed to all the ideas that are contributed, making a biased conclusion inevitable. And no forum for real free speech and debate. Let the readership make their own minds up not the editors.
To illustrate how the physically present theorists function in their tunnelled vision and comprehension on how the Spiritual Master exists fully we only have to look at one of Srila Prabhupada’s paper backed editions of Elevation to Krishna Consciousness, Pages 57-58.
“There are two conceptions of presence — the physical conception and the vibrational conception. The physical presence is temporary whereas the vibrational conception is eternal. When we enjoy or relish the vibration of Krishna’s teachings in Bhagavad-Gita, or when we chant Hare Krishna, we should know then by those vibrations He is immediately present.
He is absolute, and because of this, His vibration is just as important as His physical presence. When we feel separation from Krishna, or the Spiritual Master, we should just try to remember their words of instructions, and we will no longer feel that separation. Such association with Krishna and the Spiritual Master should be association by vibration not physical presence. That is real association. We put so much stress on seeing, but when Krishna was present on this earth so many people saw Him and did not realize that He is God; so what is the advantage of seeing?
By seeing Krishna we will not understand Him, but by listening carefully to His teachings, we can come to the platform of understanding. We can touch Krishna immediately by sound vibration; therefore we should give more stress to the sound vibration of Krishna and of the Spiritual Master — then we will feel happy and wont feel separation.”
Srila Prabhupada defines what “presence” actually is — physical presence and vibrational presence, both are valid, one is temporary and one is eternal.
Srila Prabhupada is emphasising the vibrational presence of Krishna and the Spiritual Master whereas the physically present vadis emphasise the body of the Spiritual Master.
Srila Prabhupada does not illustrate that Krishna and the Spiritual Master don’t accept you in this form of vibrational presence, no we find the opposite is true. Srila Prabhupada says, “we can touch Krishna immediately by sound vibration, therefore we should give more stress to the sound vibration of Krishna and the Spiritual Master…”
When we touch Krishna immediately with sound vibration isn’t there reciprocation from Krishna in this connection? So when we immediately touch the Spiritual Master in this same way there is also a two way communication.
There is no possibility of touching Krishna and the Spiritual Master by sound vibration without reciprocation — it’s a relationship. Isn’t this what personalism is all about?
The physically present theorists totally ignore this important instruction from Srila Prabhupada . Why? Because it flies in their face of the physically present theory.
CC 1.35, Excerpt: “If there is no chance to serve the Spiritual Master directly, a devotee should serve Him by remembering His instructions. There is no difference between the Spiritual Master’s instructions and the Spiritual Master Himself..”
This instruction is the continuation of the same theme from Elevation to Krishna Consciousness (Pages 58-59). Srila Prabhupada presents the same cohesive, coherent message for the disciples whom have no chance to serve Him directly. And there are many who never met Srila Prabhupada at all, even when He was physically present..
Thus we can easily understand the passage from Srila Prabhupada that when we discriminate between the Diksa Guru and Siksa Guru we commit offense in the discharge of devotional service. That is why the physically present theorists are not just wrong but also offensive..
The physically present theorists’ offenses continue by discriminating between the Spiritual Master and his instructions by admitting that being initiated in absentia is impossible but following instruction in absentia is possible.
They say the Spiritual Master is compelled to be physically present to agree with the disciple on a course of action to perform devotional service, to assess the disciples’ attitude and capabilities, to engage in devotional service and initiation. The physically present theorists want it both ways.
They want the Spiritual Master to be physically present at initiation for them and after the Spiritual Master disappears he must still function as Diksa Guru in absentia for them only. But the Shiksa Guru can function physically present or not.
But in Srila Prabhupada’s teachings we don’t find this type of discrimination, definition, division and sectarianism.
The physically present theorists want to be initiated by the body of the Spiritual Master because they say there is a difference between the Spiritual Master’s physical conception and his vibrational conception. They say that only when the Spiritual Master is physically present can initiation take place and when he has disappeared it can’t.
So they have to discriminate between the physical presence and the vibrational presence. Physical presence is temporary and vibrational presence is eternal. Therefore they say the eternal Spiritual Master can not initiate and the temporary Spiritual Master can. Clearly discrimination.
But their discrimination does not stop there.
They have to discriminate between the Supreme Lord and the initiating and instructing Spiritual Master as well. There must also be a difference between the Bhagavad-gita and Krishna. And also Krishna’s presence whether He is physically present or not.
The discrimination continues when we apply their theory to the Holy Name as well. The Holy Name — is He physically present or not? For the physically present theorist the Holy Name must be a massive dilemma and anomaly. Krishna is definitely not here, nor is Srila Prabhupada physically present but what about the Holy Name?
And what would be the point in chanting the Holy Name for the physically present theorists, what could possibly be the benefit?
The Holy Name is vibrational presence, which for the physically present theorists is of little importance, consequence and functionality and definitely has no application.
There is no difference between Krishna and the Holy Name so Krishna is fully present in His Holy Name (Verse 2, Sri Sri Siksastaka) the vibrational presence, but the physically present theorists say the Spiritual Master is not fully present in his vibrational presence because you cant get initiated by the vibrational presence of the Spiritual Master, clear discrimination between the initiating and instructing Spiritual Masters and the Supreme Lord.
In fact the vibrational presence of the Spiritual Master counts for nothing in the physically present camp.
The physically present camp is full of hypocrisy, contradictory paradigms and confusion.
There is absolutely no conception of following Guru, Sadhu and Sastra what to speak of Disciplic Succession. They just live in a physically present cocoon of physically present existence in a three dimensional world.
They only read some of Srila Prabhupada’s books, the words that fit into their paradigms. They make up their own terminologies that fit into their understanding of eternal principles, such as “post samadhi diksa”, what ever that means. They are hypocrites because they criticize everyone else for the same things that they do — ignore all of Srila Prabhupada teachings bar their own understandings.
And their last tactic is to invent something that does not exist to prove it does not exist.
CC 1.46, Excerpt:
“In fact, however, a bona fide acharya is non—different from the Personality of Godhead, and therefore to envy such an acharya is to envy the Personality of Godhead Himself. This will produce an effect subversive to transcendental realisation.”
The physically present theorists contradict this very instruction from Caitanya Caritamrita by Srila Prabhupada. They say there is a difference between the Spiritual Master and the Supreme Lord, because the dealings are different, but that is not what we find here.
Thus the conclusive statement from Srila Prabhupada that discrimination between the initiating and instructing Spiritual Masters and the Supreme Lord is akin to enviousness. To discriminate between the Spiritual Masters is to discriminate against the Supreme Lord and is offensive and has a subversive effect.
Thus the supporters of the conceptualised exclusive physically present theory that the Diksa Guru and Shiksa Guru have to be physically present to function in that way are at odds with the conclusive words of Srila Prabhupada.
The Spiritual Masters are clearly functional in their vibrational presence, they are 100% Diksa and Shiksa Gurus 100% of the time whether physically present or vibrationally present. Srila Prabhupada’s opinion is such association with Krishna and the Spiritual Master should be by vibrational presence not physical presence.
This is His emphasis. He calls this real association, therefore we should give more stress to the sound vibration of Krishna and the Spiritual Master.
And why would we be getting real association with the Spiritual Master if it is not connected to initiation and instruction?
The exclusive physically present Diksa Guru supporters and proponents are just talking nonsense and come from places such as discrimination, sectarianism and enviousness.
Srila Prabhupada is the current link in the disciplic succession whom we should all take initiation and instruction from in absentia. He is the vibrational Diksa Guru and Shiksa Guru present today and present tomorrow.
