Citraketu dasa: Subtle Body Must be Dissolved!

Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada and all pure devotees of the Supreme Personality of Godhead!

Subtle Body Must be Dissolved!

“As long as there exists the subtle material body composed of intelligence,
mind, senses, sense objects, and the reactions of the material qualities, the
consciousness of false identification and its relative objective, the gross
body, exist as well.”
(SB 4.29.70)

“The subtle body is endowed with sixteen parts-the five knowledge-acquiring
senses, the five working senses, the five objects of sense gratification, and
the mind. This subtle body is an effect of the three modes of material nature.
It is composed of insurmountably strong desires, and therefore it causes the
living entity to transmigrate from one body to another in human life, animal
life and life as a demigod. When the living entity gets the body of a demigod,
he is certainly very jubilant, when he gets a human body he is always in
lamentation, and when he gets the body of an animal, he is always afraid. In all
conditions, however, he is actually miserable. His miserable condition is called
samsrti, or transmigration in material life.”
(SB 6.1.51)

If We Do Not Dissolve the Subtle Body One Will Have to Transmigrate From One
Birth to the Next (The Wheel of Samsara):

“Sometimes we suffer because we see a tiger in a dream or a snake in a
vision, but actually there is neither a tiger nor a snake. Thus we create some
situation in a subtle form and suffer the consequences. These sufferings cannot
be mitigated unless we are awakened from our dream.” SB 4.29.35

“The great sage Narada continued: The living entity acts in a gross body in
this life. This body is forced to act by the body, composed of mind,
intelligence and ego. After the gross body is lost, the subtle body is still
there to enjoy or suffer. Thus there is no change.”

The Easy Way to Dissolve the Subtle Body!

“Bhakti, devotional service, dissolves the subtle body of the living entity
without separate effort, just as fire in the stomach digests all that we eat.”
SB 3.25.33

“One who actually satisfies the Supreme Personality of Godhead during one’s
lifetime becomes liberated from the gross and subtle material conditions. Thus
being freed from all material modes of nature, he achieves unlimited spiritual
bliss.”
SB 4.11.14

“This manifestation of subtle and gross matter exists within the Supreme
Personality of Godhead. Out of causeless mercy toward His devotees, He exhibits
various forms, which are all transcendental. The Supreme Lord is most liberal,
and He possesses all mystic power. To conquer the minds of His devotees and give
pleasure to their hearts, He appears in different incarnations and manifests
many pastimes.”
SB 5.25.10

Dharma Comments: In conclusion, we have found what appears to be verification
in the Vaisnava Sastra that we must dissolve the subtle body. There is no
alternative. This aligns with our goal of Buddhi-Yoga. We must utilize our body,
words, mind, intelligence and whatever we have to somehow remain in meditations
on the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Sometimes our endeavor for Bhakti Yoga
may be subtle and indirect. Whenever possible, our Sanga, our association with
the Supreme Personality of Godhead and His pure devotees, should be direct and
complete. As much as may be possible, but somehow or other we need to keep up
with our association in Krsna consciousness. Study the Vaisnava Sastras whenever
possible and as much as possible. Never give up the pursuit of Vaisnava
standards. Your servant in Krsna consciousness, Citraketu dasa
