ISKCON Bangalore to hold 8th Annual Sri Sri Krishna – Balarama Rathayatra

Karunya Sagar Dasa addressing the media said that as in the previous years, ISKCON, Arya Samaja Road, Mangalore is celebrating Sri Sri Krishna Balarama Rathayatra on Saturday February 19th, 2011 as it is the day on which the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna along with his elder brother Balarama made a journey to give Darshana to all his devotees.

The chariots carrying the dieties of Sri Krishna and Balarama will proceed through the streets of Mangalore on that evening. The deities on the majestic chariot, while in procession, will be receiving a warm welcome by the people of Mangalore all the way.

The chariot will be decorated with a variety of fragrant flowers and illuminated with sparkling lights. The deities of the Lordships will be bejeweled by ornaments, flower garlands and silken garments. The overall atmosphere will remind the people of the journey of the Lordships to Mathura, in the age of Dvaparayuga. The devotees consider this as nothing other than his causeless mercy to witness such a procession in this dark age of Kaliyuga.

The procession will start from City Center in the presence of His Holiness Vidyasagar Tirtha Padangalavaru, Krishnapura Mutt, Udupi presided by Madhupandit Dasa, President ISKCON, Bangalore, Chairman, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, at 6 P.M. Devotees can offer flowers at the Lotus feet of their Lordships and can pull the chariot. There will be other seva opportunities also. The entire atmosphere will be spiritually powered by the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha mantra.

The prasadam, food remnants offered at their Lordships will be distributed by the volunteers throughout the journey. Also packets of prasadam will be given from the chariot. Itïž’s worthwhile to see the excitement of the devotees to take the prasadam packets.

This is an excellent opportunity to get the mercy of the Lordships. More than 10,000 devotees will be participating from various part of India like Uttar Pradesh, Hyderabad, Haryana, Kerala and various parts of Karnataka. ISKCON Mangalore hereby invites each and everyone to this ecstatic occasion of Rathayatra to serve the Lordships as much as possible and to get blessed with the endless mercy of Sri Krishna Balarama. The programme will wind up with the Maha Mangalarathi at A B Shetty hall, Mangalore at 9 p.m.
