Vishal Mathew, DNA | Last Updated 08:04 (17/04/11) | Bangalore Scores of worshippers thronged the Iskcon temple on Friday to participate in the annual Sri Brahmotsava celebrations. Devotees huddled in the central hall of the Iskcon temple at 6 pm, to witness the punya vachana of Swami Prabhupada, founder and spiritual master of Iskcon.
Iskcon president Madhu Pandit Dasa tied golden kankanas onto the devotees’ wrists, which symbolised that they were bound to the festival. The Brahmotsava will feature a special alankara each day for the Utsava moorthies starting with the Raja Rani alankara and ending with the Venulola alankara on April 27.
The utsava vahanas after their procession will be brought to a halt on each day of the festival at the open air theatre where dolotsava or hulan seva will be conducted at 8 pm. The open air theatre has a seating capacity of 3000, but the organisers of the Brahmotsava are expecting a crowd of 5,000 on each day of the festival.
