Thank you for your thoughts, Gaurakishor-here are some of mine.
1) Why would a GBC be needed in America when there are NO temples for them to manage? Other than one lone small temple in Long Island NY, we have a few householders who hold programs in their homes/ashrams and that’s it ! This sounds to me that you want more chiefs with no indians to hold pow wows with.
2) You mention kali yuga is only getting worse-no question about it. But to say there is hardly any preaching is stretching it a bit. If you mean there are not thousands of books going out and hundreds of Hari nama parties around-then this is true. But preaching in America has been damaged due to the nefarious activities of the present mis leaders of the institution called Iskcon.
I think you need to see a larger picture than what is showing itself at present.
When there is a fire in the house, life is hardly anything but normal because all you should do is put out the fire-first. Then life (as we knew it) hopefully will return to normal.
For the hundreds if not thousands of displaced disciples of Srila Prabhupada there is nothing for them – but fire all around them. I feel badly for these souls in that they have absolutely no shelter and probably no good association either. But what can be done? When the fire is raging all around you, all you have to think about it putting the thing out. And putting that fire out means two things-
3) There are two ways to preach at present with our current situation. First there are those devotee types who want to attack the bogus gurus and incorrect system current in Iskcon. We all know who these types are and what there names are. The second type of devotee will basically, for the most part, ignore the bogus gurus and the bogus Iskcon system and just preach on their own in their own way without any interference from Iskcon.
We all know who these types are.
Then there is a third type of “ritvik” These types think they can say anything they want, do anything they want, and still call it Krishna Consciousness, according to Srila Prabhupada. And I think most on this email link know who these types are. This third type is really part of the problem and not the solution.
Since this category cannot and will not work cooperatively with any others, they resort to blasphemy, slander and out right lies about their sincere Godbrothers who actually are able to work with many others and get some things done. There is little chance this third type can do much if any tangible service since they mostly only “talk” and then disturb those who are doing some tangible service.
4) When I say you need to see a larger picture, this is what I mean. This Hare Krishna Movement is meant to go on for 10,000 years, give or take a few.
We have a major problem at present with Iskcon, if Iskcon is the vehicle meant to carry on for all these years. Assuming Iskcon is that vehicle that will carry Mahaprabhu’s message worldwide, the current system of guru tattva and many other deranged ideas they currently hold, needs to be changed-BACK to the way Srila Prabhuapda wanted it.
Given that as a solution, this will happen by the mercy of the Lord, but it wont happen overnight and it certainly wont happen by those who think they are disciples of Prabhupada yet who resort to malicious attacks upon sincere souls.
Personally I believe this movement will turn itself around and we already have seen lots of signs that this is already happening. For example the entire Iskcon temple in Christchurch left Iskcon and became ritviks, following the advice of the Hare Krishna Society.
This is no small thing. And there is also the devotees in Singapur and others in that same area who also left Iskcon and became ritviks and continue to do so. There is also the NY temple. And there are many if not hundreds of others working by themselves or a few others together to carry on the mission of Srila Prabhupada.
And then we have the Bangalore temple in India. They are the chief warriors on the battlefield who have gathered everyones attention. The fight has now come back to India, and Kuruksetra has now moved to the Karanataka high court where the two adversaries Iskcon Mumbai and Iskcon Bangalore will fight to the finish.
When this battle is over and won by Krishna grace, by the Bangalore temple, we shall see a domino effect by many smaller Iskcon temples who want to be ritvik but are scared to do so. When Mumbai is defeated, all the other temple will now want to have their own independence of the tyrants who now command their lives. Many of these temples already ascribe to the ritvik system (in the closet), but cannot implement it due to their own inherent weakenesses, and other considerations.
5) One conclusion , I feel is this-we just have to be patient and wait for the Lord to reveal His plan as He is already doing, and make ourselves instruments, somehow or other, in this plan. Being instrumental does not mean offending all other ritviks just because they dont share your vision of how this plan will unfold. Whenever devotees fight with each other, everybody cringes and nobody likes it, and certainly Srila Prabhupada and Mahaprabhu do not like it all.
So if somebody feels strongly about one way or another, let them go do something in their way and depend on Krishna for whatever result He will give to them. But putting out malicious lies about another, is certainly not the way to attract the attention of the Lord. And then two seconds later say, hey I am only trying to work with your prabhu !! Please accept my humble obeisances while I smash you in the next sentences…
This is not the way things will go on….nor the way Prabhupada wanted them to go on for gentlemen who claim to be devotees of the Lord.
