Mahatma dasa: Preaching Prabhupada’s mission in Los Angeles

Hare Krishna. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Here is about my preaching and needs at the moment. I bought some big pots and started cooking and distributing Prasada 5 years ago. Joined the interfaith council and took every opportunity to preach and distribute Prasada and books. So I have given lectures and workshops at churches and the college and for the Indian community. Now with my new wife of 3 years Govinda dasi who is a great cook, we also had a very nice and sweet Ratha Yatra festival in 2007. We fed Prasada to 700 free fo charge. I just finished a year term as treasurer of the local interfaith council. So we are trusted in the community. We are currently serving between 240 and 480 plates of Prasada to the homeless each month. So I think it is time to have a devotee or two join us in the preaching effort. We also have a couple of lots of land. We would like to develop one of these as a Prabhupadanuga temple, gift shop, restaurant etc.

We have a nice newer and bigger house in a very good area just an hour Northeast of Los Angeles. We have nice rooms for devotees who would like to join a relaxed but dedicated couple that is trying it’s best to give Srila Prabhupada and Krishna to others. As you know, I first questioned the authority of the ISKCON gurus in 78, and I am the very first ritvik initiated Prabhupadanuga in the movement in 1986. Lord Krishna also used me to start the Prabhupada festival and the Prabhupada family reunion in Los Angeles.

So please send this out to your list in case there may be any ritvik Prabhupadanuga devotee interested to join us in the preaching effort. We do not care if it is a man or lady or a couple. It would help if there is a source of income however. They also do not have to live with us if they so choose. There are very good sale and rent prices in the area. So any devotee interested in more details, may call me at, 661-722-8256.

Sincerely,

Mahatma dasa – spiritpassion@msn.com

    PAMHO AGTSP!!!!!!!!!!!

Jai prabhu!!! you once allowed me to read one of my poems at a Prabhupada reunion meeting in LA. You visited me in Sandiego once and saw a book of my poetry you very much appreciated I think
. I want to know how you are doing. I am disabled on ssi living alone and very much want to join your efforts perhaps because I;m really not doing to well in spiritual life. I see a wonder devotee named Daaghosa every week I believe you met he thinks your a nice devotee. But I really need some help because I’m handicapped mentally really, I need to get out of this living alone scene and have constant association with a nice Prabhupadanuga constantly help him distribure prasadam and books what ever I can do, I pray everything is going ecstatically in Krishna consciouness with you, I just really believe one of the needs in the pure iskcon world not the corrupted one taken over by, well I’m sure your familiar with it all. But we need some hospitals and living facilities for Prabhupadanugas who aren’t doing to well in material or spiritual health. I believe thats the vedic attiquette that Prabhupada tried to train us to understand and execute. Because by myself I just have been alone since my wife left me not too long after we met. I want to serve Prabhupada really but I’m just getting weaker and weaker and don’t care too much for this life anymore. You see I’m disabled what facility is there for devotees who can’t hold jobs or drive cars and have very little devotee association, you seemed to be a devotee that was really concerbed about this kind of thing.

  2. Dear Anubhavananda; Haribol! AGTSP

Thanks for writing , as it lets us all know a need which we can collectively work towards satisfying.

Quite a number of good devotees suffer insufficient association nowadays due to the usurpation of the houses Srila Prabhupada built for us. Many lives’ works went into building ISKCON, and we had intended only the best, then thieves somehow stole in and helped themselves to everything for themself, otherwise Srila Prabhupada’s mission was meant to include everyone. What is left is but a sham and a shell, and those unfortunates within her ranks suffer depressions due to fear and oppression, oft laboring under lies from deviants.

Sometimes, due to our own karmic situations, we suffer from ill or disabled bodies which restrict us. In such a case, one has to do one’s best. You are dealing with both a disabled body, and a spiritually disabled mission. The glory that was to have been Iskcon, is but a remnant, as most of the true “soldiers” were sent away by fraudsters, thus we have been crippled and have not achieved what we could have by even a fraction. It is the crime of the century.

Yes, by associating with other like-minded devotees, we can find encouragement. In this regards, while you are making your arrangements, you may find some inspiration and solace among the various ritvik devotee internet sites. There are several. You will find one where you feel at home. Work with them, render all services. Especially if we can all cooperate, we can make progress.

Members of missions such as Dusyanta Prabhu, Suvarna Manjari, Mahatma Prabhu, Kapindra Swami etc are welcome to associate, advertise, etc as they see fit to encourage the spread of Srila Prabhupada’s mission via our social-interactive website, Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON. We are here to serve Srila Prabhupada’s servants.

“…being individual souls, each person has entirely different activities and behavior. Krsna Book, page 88, Srila Prabhupada. So we should not be surprised that devotees differ in opinions and moods, but we should , as we always did back in the “good old days” accept and enjoy the differences, rather than nitpik or find fault with Godbrothers on the same mission.

To reconstruct Srila Prabhupada’s society will take some time and contributions from many sincere souls. The first generation is getting rapidly older, so take advantage of the opportunity to seek them out and offer service, as you are doing, before they are gone and their direct experiential siksa lost. A plan for a hospice / vanaprastha community is part of our site, and you may find that direction good. Some of us also have disabled bodies. We welcome contributors and active devotees.

Obeisances and best fortune. Hare Krsna, Prabhu.
