Prabhupada, London, August 5, 1971: It’s Krishna’s mission to awaken man’s original consciousness. At the present moment we have got designated consciousness.
I am thinking “I am Indian,” you are thinking Englishman, another is thinking American. But actually we are neither American nor Indian nor any that sort of designation. We are part and parcel of God. That is our real identification. If we come to that consciousness, then all the problems of the world will be solved.
Now, due to our designated consciousness, we are thinking, “You are different from me, I am different from you,” but if we come to Krishna consciousness, then we shall know that we are one, the same spirit soul, maybe in different dress. That is the explanation given in Bhagavad-gita. Just like we are all human beings, gentlemen, ladies.
Maybe in different dress, but our aims and objects are the one and the same. So this Krishna consciousness movement is purificatory process. Sarvopadhi-vinirmuktam [Cc. Madhya 19.170]. To make people free from all designations. Tat-paratvena nirmalam. And in Krishna consciousness they become purified. And when they’re purified their activities by purified senses make them perfect.
That is the ideal perfection of human life. And our process is also very simple. There is no need of becoming a great philosopher, scientist, or thoughtful man. Simply by chanting the holy name of the Lord we can immediately contact with the Lord, because the Lord as the person and His name and His quality are all absolute. So this is a great science.
Unfortunately, there is no department of education for this science in any one of the so many universities. So we invite, therefore, all kinds of serious men for the welfare of the human society to understand this great movement and if possible take part in it and cooperate with us. That will solve all the problems of the world.
That is the verdict of Bhagavad-gita. Very authoritative book of knowledge. Most of you may know the name Bhagavad-gita. So our movement is based on this Bhagavad-gita, the authorized book of knowledge, and approved by big acaryas in India, Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, Lord Caitanya. So you are all responsible representatives of papers. Try to understand this movement and ventilate it as far as possible for the good of the whole human society. That’s all.
Woman Interviewer: Yes, Your Grace, it seems to many people that there is probably more. There are probably more people in the world now who are seeking some kind of spiritual new light than probably ever before, or at least, there’s more evidence of it. And I wonder if you agreed with that, and if so can you tell me why it is?
Prabhupada: Yes, That should be the natural hankering with us. Because we are spirit soul we cannot be happy in material atmosphere. Just like you take out the fish from the water, it cannot be happy on the land, similarly, if we are without spiritual consciousness we can never be happy.
So people after advancement of scientific knowledge and economic development, they are not happy. They are becoming hippies. So the cause is that they’re in search of spiritual life and this is the proper delivery, Krishna consciousness, or God consciousness.

Just commenting on the colorful photo along this article.Krishna and sri radhika on the swing( julan ) I would think that the photos is reversed here or else this is mokery of srila prabhupada’s teachings.After being so many years in the association both with him and by his books we would by now that as Srila Prabhupada has stated in his purport that his energy pleasure potency is always on his LEFT SIDE,other than that it is MOKERY -FOOLS .Theses days I have noticed in many dieties NEW photos( during his divine grace when our prabhupada was here he would correct this nonsense ,please check old installation photos you will never find such tulsi leaf on his tila /nose ) that they put TULSI LEAF on his nose ,this is bogus,i guess kali is progressing.One may why ? what is WRONG with such tulsi leaf on his forehead tilak.Tulsi worships Sri Govindadev by touching his lotus feet and on is plate ( bhoga )and around his neck garland.This is NEW in MISKCON and is fast moving into real ISKCON,we have to be vigilant study his books not just read them.The photo of Krishna and Sri Radhika on swing is an old painting and the original photograph was REVERSED BY BBT.and since than KALI has taken over.TRULY THIS SHOULD BE RECITIFIED.
We obviously live in a difficult age where we have to be somewhat merciful and see the good. Many who joined Vaishnavism figured to advance further to our two thousand years of Christian background and to attain higher realization of Love of God.
Christians believe that Lord Jesus is fully alive, fully present, can deliver his devotees. Whereas modern Vaishnavas have reached that conclusion that Srila Prabhupada is unable to give diksa anymore. By voting procedure appointed conditioned souls who later on even rejected the path of bhakti altogether are replacing Prabhupada…
So, who is more advanced? Meanwhile modern Vaishnava institutions are residing below those Christians who follow the 4 regs. From spiritual point of view in order to uplift humanity, present Vaishnavism is not realy required in Western countries. To connect people with false gurus who were not authorized by previous acarya?
