Fifteenth Annual Brahmotsava at ISKCON Bangalore

April 4, 2012 The grand inauguration of fifteenth annual Brahmotsava celebration of ISKCON, Sri Radha Krishna mandir will be on April 5, 2012. This festival will continue for eleven days until April 16, 2012.
The twelve-day festival includes colorful processions every evening where the utsava deities of Sri Radha Krishna will be adorned in different alankaras (decorations) and taken in procession around the temple in special vahanas (carriers) like Ananta Sesha Vahana, Hamsa Vahana, Garuda Vahana & so on. This will be followed by a gala firework display.
Traditional dance drama performances depicting various lilas of Lord Krishna will be staged every evening as a part of the celebrations. Padmashree awardee Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant, Smt. Gopika Varma and other accomplished artistes in their respective traditions are set to stage the cultural programs every evening. The utsava deities of the Lord will receive a seva of dolotsava, during which Sri Radha Krishna are gently rocked on a flower decorated swing.
Srila Prabhupada the Founder and Acharya of ISKCON said that one can get spiritually enlivened by celebrating festivals in the temple, festivals infuse everyone to remember the Supreme Lord Krishna thus purifying one’s heart. “Brahmotsava is the celebration of installation of the worshipable deities. Sri Radha Krishna chandra and other deities on the Hare Krishna hill were installed on the eighth day of the waning moon in the month of Chaitra(April/May) fifteen years ago. ISKCON celebrates the Lord’s appearance on Hare Krishna hill engaging art, music, dance and other creative and aesthetic expressions. We guarantee an unforgettable spiritually enlivening experience to everyone who comes”, says Madhu Pandit Dasa, President, ISKCON Bangalore.
On the 10th day April 14, 2012, their Lordships Sri Radha Krishna will be carried on the Brahma Ratha and 108 food preparations(bhoga) will be offered
to their Lordships. The festival will conclude on April 16, 2012 with Theppotsava (boat ride) for their Lordships in the temple pond.
