Srimad-Bhagavatam, Canto 1 — This is the basic philosophy of Isopanisad: Everything is the property of the Supreme Being. No one should encroach upon the property of the Supreme Lord. One should accept only what is kindly awarded by Him. Therefore, the earth or any other planet or universe is the absolute property of the Lord. Thanks for posting! Usually modern Vaishnavas rarely address topics concerning general welfare.
Bible mentions “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.” (Genesis 1:28) However, building such huge dams is a radical attempt to subdue earth. Interrupting beautiful rivers from their natural flow to produce electricity quite a forceful reconfiguration of nature the Creator never intended.
Basically it is industries and an increase of artificial necessities of life what requires more and more power. As Prabhupada mentions, it improves the pocket of the capitalist. But it wont improve the condition of the mass of people.
This might be the reason why many look the other way, similiar exploitive mentality. Again thanks for reminding!
