Hare Krishna Movement, Ahmedabad celebrated Govardhan with great pomp at the construction site of Hare Krishna Mandir, near Science City, Ahmedabad. The festivites included the worship of Sri Govradhan Hill, prepared by the devotees with 300 kgs of pure vegetarian cake. The hill was marked with the replicas of all the holy ponds (sarovars), temples, villages, etc. that actually surround it in the Vraja-bhumi. Giriraj was decorated with around 120 varieties of sweets, cookies, savories, etc. all prepared by the devotees. An arati ceremony was conducted for Sri Govardhan and then all the devotees were invited to do a parikrama of the hill, as is the custom in Vraja-bhumi. Over 700 devotees participated in the festival and received the merciful blessings of Sri Giriraj.
Following the Govardhan Puja, Deepotasava was celebrated wht the arati to Lord Krishna in the form of Damodara. All the visitors got a chance to offer a ghee lamp to Lord Damodara. A sumptous annakuta feast was organized for all and cake prasadam from Giri Govardhan was distributed to everyone. The festival concluded with a tumultous harinam sankirtana, reverberating the silent night sky of the Bhadaj village, where the Hare Krishna Mandir is located.
