09 Feb 2013, Iskcon Bangalore — Nityananda Trayodashi, is a festival which commemorates the appearance of Sri Nityananda Prabhu, who is an incarnation of Lord Balarama – brother of Lord Krishna. He appeared in the 15th century with Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, in the village of Ekacakra in Bengal. Nityananda Prabhu appeared just like the rising moon, dispelling all the darkness of the world by His auspicious appearance.

Srila Prabhupada, Founder – Acharya of ISKCON says: vrajendra-nandana yei, saci-suta haila sei balarama ha-ila nitai “Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the son of Saci is none other than Lord Krishna, the son of mother Yashoda and Nanda Maharaja, and Nityananda Prabhu is the same Balarama.”

Sri Nityanada Prabhu, as the incarnation of Godhead, delivered two most fallen brothers – Jagai and Madhai, and showed how the mercy of a real devotee is bestowed upon the lowest of mankind. He was instrumental in spreading the holy name of Lord Krishna all over Bengal and was a great preacher who delivered many fallen souls. He was an intimate associate of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and on His order He spread the holy names of the Lord “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare” throughout the world.

Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s name is always taken with Sri Nityananda Prabhu’s name and devotees in glorification of the Lord chant – “Jai Gaura-Nitai”!

ISKCON Bangalore Sri Radha Krishna Mandir celebrates the divine appearance of Nityananda Prabhu with great pomp and grandeur. Theppotasava, a boat ride for the deities of Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga in the temple pond (Kalyani) is organized followed by an elaborate Abhisheka for Their Lordships.
