“Here is a movement” | Lecture Cross Maidan Pandal

video: Sacisuta Dasa

Prabhupada, Bombay, March 23, 1977: […] Let us combine together. That is my request. Take it very seriously. In America they are now taking it seriously. Perhaps you know. Recently there is a judgment by the Supreme Court in New York. They admitted that Hare Krishna movement is genuine religious movement. There was a great opposition against this movement. Our students were being kidnapped, and so many harassments was going on, but by the grace of Krishna I went to America in 1965, and now it is ’77.

After eleven, twelve years of struggle I was loitering in the street, who cared for me? But it is now being recognized, that “Here is a movement.” Now we have to utilize it. I always put this logic to my students, andha-pangu-nyaya, that for the benefit of the whole world, American money and Indian culture should combine. (applause) That will bring benefit to the whole world.

So the opportunity is there. Now let our Indians’ leader come out. Take this movement very seriously. There will be great advantage to the people of the whole world. This kind of situation, to keep them in darkness that “I am dog,” “I am hog,” “I am American,” “I am Indian…” No. Aham brahmasmi. This is real conception of life.

What is the difference? If a bulldog thinks that “I am a bulldog,” and if a man thinks, “I am American” or “I am brahmana,” what is the difference? The real thing is knowledge. So don’t keep this knowledge locked up in your books, but spread it. My only request is: the leaders of India should now come forward and join this movement and take this advantage of doing good to the whole world, para-upakara. (applause)

    pamho agtACBSP, trayodasi ki jai,

SRILA PRABHUPADA did his best to build a house where the whole world can live in but unfortunately there is confusion created by guru hoaxers. Prabhupada clearly states:

“Therefore my request to you all who are in Krishna consciousness movement—do not be a bluffer. Behave in your life how to become Krishna conscious and teach others. Then the whole world will be benefited, and the Yamaduta will not come to them.”
    (Vrindavana, September 7, 1975)

Unfortunately there is a lot of hyprocrisy among so called devotees at present and the only real movement of Iskcon where Prabhupada is the center is ISKCON Bangalore temple.

Prabhupada: “That is not our life, to become an impostor. It must be real person. By training, yah sastra-vidhim siddhih, by training under the teaching of a bona fide spiritual master, the sastra, and then you’ll automatically, the more you become a sincere, I mean to say, servitor of the spiritual master, the more you become qualified to become a teacher in the future. Otherwise where is your qualification? You may cheat others that you are teacher, but you are not actually teacher. You have no lesson, no education. A cheating is another thing. But practically to become a teacher… Just like in a school, teacher… A teacher is appointed.”
    (January 17, 1974, Hawaii)

All these epidemic falldowns of ISKCON gurus makes clear that they are not properly following the spiritual standard created by SRILA PRABHUPADA.

“Don’t create unwanted troubles. That is called anartha-nivrttih syat. So as soon as we are, stop, full stop, unwanted things, then tato nistha, then our, that beginning faith becomes firm. That is called nistha. Tato nistha tato rucih. Then, taste, that one tasted this sort of life, he cannot give up. This is called taste. Tato nistha tato rucih, athasaktih. Then attachment, then bhava, that bhava. And if we can stay in that bhava stage, then next stage is love of Godhead. And as soon as you come to the standard of love of Godhead, your life is successful. So every instruction is there, books are there, your intelligence is there, and we are trying to give you all possible opportunities. Please stick to this Krishna consciousness, and make your life successful.”
    (July 31, 1976, New Mayapur)

So just save yourself from present tendency of manufacturing so called gurus. Guru must be real, bona fide, genuine, fully realized.

“So why do you go to a bogus guru? You must be cheated. Guru is essential. It is necessary. But take the real guru. But if you go to the bogus guru, you must be disappointed. For your treatment you need to go to a physician. That’s all. When you are diseased you cannot say, “No, no, I don’t want to…” It is necessary. But go to the real physician. Don’t go to a cheater. He has no knowledge in the medical science, and he places himself as “I am physician, MD.” Then you’ll be cheated. The guru is necessary, that’s a fact. But go to the real guru. Who is real guru? Real guru is Krishna or one who has seen Krishna, Arjuna. Take them. Then you’ll be benefitted. And if you go to a bogus man who does not know Krishna, who does not know what is Krishna’s instruction, then you must be cheated.”
    (June 28, 1976, Vrindavana)

  2. Krishna das says:

    >>SRILA PRABHUPADA did his best to build a house where the whole world can live in but unfortunately there is confusion created by guru hoaxers

Unfortunately there is no evidence for it. No one is successful in proving till date that there is no possibility of Prabhupada personally instructing his disciples to become a spiritual master, nor is there any evidence that the order has to be explicit. So there is no evidence that the Gurus are hoax.

    >>the only real movement of Iskcon where Prabhupada is the center is ISKCON Bangalore temple

Keeping Prabhupada at the center doesn’t mean that you concoct a way to become his direct disciple. By doing so, you want to take all the respect that Prabhupada deserves, of being the absolute authority as is evident from the behavior of devotees of ISKCON Bangalore, wherein the devotees will sit when their authorities ask them to sit and stand when their authorities ask them to stand. Their authorities tell them “Don’t go to those temples”, and the followers will get afraid of fall down and will not go. What an easy way of becoming an absolute authority, no need of a rigorous GBC procedure to reach this level. Also, we see how much advertisement is done to feed the poor, film stars are called, politicians are called. They glorify this scheme. Interviews of school students are taken and are published wherein girls give statement “I may have stayed at home and worked. But because of ISKCON’s akshaya patra scheme I am able to go to school, and in future I will be independent”. This would have hurt Prabhupada the most because he was the greatest enemy of women independence, what to speak of their going to school. My friend told me “the greatest thing ISKCON has done is Akshaya patra”, what nonsense, the greatest thing ISKCON has done in my calculation is distributed Prabhupada books, presented Krishna consciousness to everyone, made lakhs of devotees, and not philanthropy and charity which will in no way take one out of repeated birth and death. In the peak marathon time, ISKCON bangalore stopped the supply of Kannada Bhagavad Gita to prevent other temples distribute more.

    >>So just save yourself from present tendency of manufacturing so called gurus. Guru must be real, bona fide, genuine, fully realized

And without associating with Gurus how can you conclude whether they are bonafide or no? I know, you will listen to your Gurus, who have not undergone the authorized purification process but still are becoming your absolute authority, just by flattering you all that you all are direct disciples of Prabhupada and I am also the same.

  3. abhaya carana seva das says:

pamho agtACBSP, main point is that SRILA PRABHUPADA is alive while we are still trying to become alive – to live eternally by following Prabhupada’s instructions, guru, sastra and sadhu.

There are three things, sadhu-sastra-guru. So to accept one, you have to take the opinion of the other two. Then you’ll get the right way. Just like who is a guru? That is stated in the sastras. Srotriyah brahma-nistham. Sastra says, tad-vijnanartham sa gurum evabhigacchet: [MU 1.2.12] “One must approach a guru.” Then the same question comes, “Who is guru?” That is also stated, srotriyah brahma-nistham. “He’s well-versed in Vedas, knowledge of Vedas, and fully Krishna conscious.”
    (July 18, 1973, London)

SRILA PRABHUPADA is giving us the truth because he fulfilled the order of his guru.

You are right that politics should be avoided. In my personal life I did not participate in the political diplomacy of my god-brothers. I was simply thinking how to fulfill the order of my guru maharaja. He gave me his blessings, and I was saved from any implication. Now I am trying to carry out his instructions strictly, and it has come out successful.
(Letter to: Gangamayi, Mayapur, 18 October, 1974)

The deviation is that we are sometimes inclined to become a devotee for some material benefits. However, the spiritual master is as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and therefore one who is very serious about spiritual advancement must regard the spiritual master in this way. Even a slight deviation from this understanding can create disaster in the disciple’s Vedic studies and austerities.
