At the evening celebrations on the third day of Sri Brahmahotsava at ISKCON Bangalore, as the sun sinks into the distant horizon, Lord Krishnachandra appears to dissipate the gathering darkness in His
Surya Prabha Vahana. On a chariot drawn by seven horses and Aruna, the charioteer of the sun God riding, Their Lordships adorned in Giridhari Alankara are taken around the kalyani in a grand procession. Amidst fireworks, kirtans and showers of fragrant flowers, devotees pulled the vahana. This alankara is an inspiration from the transcendental pastimes of Lord Krishna, when, as a young boy He lifted Govardhana Hill on His little finger. To provide the Vrajavasis shelterfrom the raging storms sent by an offended Lord Indra, Krishna rescued them under the umbrage of this sacred hill.

For the pleasure of the Lord, Sarita Mishra, an odissi dance exponent, offers her nritya seva. In an abhinaya piece called “Mohana Murati Chailo” a gopi describes the beauty of Lord Krishna as He appears in the forests of Vrindavan. She expresses her yearning to enjoy His company in loving exchanges.

As the conch shell blows, wisps of fragrant incense make onlookers wait with bated breath as the curtains open to a sight which was bedazzling. A riot of flowers, tastefully decorated backdrop, and the serene Lord in His Govardhana Giridhari form is welcomed by Govindam Adi Purusham, prayers which were offered by Lord Brahma. As the frankincense smoke clears, spreading its fragrance afar, the jewellery adorning the Lord glitters, sending a sense of ethereal calm that is indescribable. The Sageeta Seva is offered by the devotees of the temple.
