Prabhupada, New Vrindaban, June 10, 1969: […] The reason is that this transcendental science does not depend on academic qualification. It is, it is not that because one is very, academically very qualified, he’ll become a devotee. No. The secret is… That is given in the Vedic literatures: yasyasti bhaktir bhagavaty akincana:

yasya deve para bhaktir yatha deve tatha gurau tasyaite kathita hy arthah prakasante mahatmanah [SU 6.23]

The transcendental knowledge becomes revealed. To whom it becomes revealed? It becomes revealed to such person who has got unflinching love for Krishna and for the spiritual master. Caitanya-caritamrta also says: guru-krsna-krpaya paya bhakti-lata-bija [Cc. Madhya 19.151] One can come to the spiritual perfectional stage, or come to the spiritual platform, by the mercy of Krishna and the spiritual master.

The, this is Vedic version: yasya deve para bhaktih. One who has got unflinching faith… Deve.

Deve means the Supreme Lord. Para bhakti: transcendental devotional service to the Supreme Lord. Yatha deve tatha gurau. And as he has got unflinching faith in Krishna, similarly he has got unflinching faith to the spiritual master. Tasyaite kathita hy arthah: all these Vedic literatures and their purport and their meaning will be revealed to him. Tasyaite kathita hy arthah prakasante. It becomes revealed. Prakasante mahatmanah.

So that is the secret, not that erudite scholarship. One must be very much sincere. Then Krishna will give you dictation. He is within.

pamho agtACBSP, SRILA BHAKTIVINODA THAKUR AND SRI GADADHARA PANDIT tirobhava mahotsava ki jai,

thank you for posting this proper video on what I was thinking right now by meditating on the perfect lives of the acharyas. Acharyas attained perfection and are no longer attached to this material body machine because pure devotees don’t have material body anymore.

It is understood from authorized scriptures that even while in the material body, a pure devotee’s body becomes surcharged with spiritual energy by the constant engagement of his senses in the service of Lord Sri Krishna.

Right, unless one has got utmost confidence in both Spiritual Master and Krishna he cannot advance on the path of bhakti-yoga of Krishna Consciousness. So we have to keep up this nice attitude and render service sincerely and our life will come to perfection, love of Krishna.

Artificially appoint conditioned souls into the office of acharya is surely possible but how someone can have unflinching faith in such guru? Unless a spiritual master is fully realized uttama adikari his followers will always harbor misgivings whether their guru is receiving dictation from Krishna.

A person in full Krishna consciousness acts by the dictation of Krishna. In the beginning of Krishna consciousness, dictation is received through the transparent medium of the spiritual master. When one is sufficiently trained and acts in submissive faith and love for Krishna under the direction of the bona fide spiritual master, the dovetailing process becomes more firm and accurate. This stage of devotional service by the devotee in Krishna consciousness is the most perfect stage of the yoga system. At this stage, Krishna, or the Supersoul, dictates from within, while from without the devotee is helped by the spiritual master, who is the bona fide representative of Krishna. From within He helps the devotee as caitya, for He is seated within the heart of everyone. Understanding that God is seated within everyone’s heart is not, however, sufficient. One has to be acquainted with God from both within and without, and one must take dictation from within and without to act in Krishna consciousness. This is the highest perfectional stage of the human form of life and the topmost perfection of all yoga.

Re: abhaya carana seva das says:

“…It is understood from authorized scriptures that even while in the material body, a pure devotee’s body becomes surcharged with spiritual energy by the constant engagement of his senses in the service of Lord Sri Krishna….”

    Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 1, Ch.3 Text 34..

If the illusory energy subsides and the living entity becomes fully enriched with knowledge by the grace of the Lord, then he becomes at once enlightened with self-realization and thus becomes situated in his own glory.

In his Bhaktivedanta Purport, Srila Prabhupada explains how the Lord’s energy is working to deliver His devotees, viz…

“…His transcendental energy acts according to His omnipotency. The same energy acts as His external, internal and marginal energies, and by His omnipotency he can perform anything and everything through the agency of any of the above energies. He can turn the external energy into internal by His will. Therefore by His grace the external energy, which is employed in illusioning those living beings who want to have it, subsides by the will of the Lord in terms of repentance and penance for the conditioned soul. And the very same energy then acts to help the purified living being make progress on the path of self-realization. The example of electrical energy is very appropriate in this connection. The expert electrician can utilize the electrical energy for both heating and cooling by adjustments only. Similarly, the external energy, which now bewilders the living being into continuation of birth and death, is turned into internal potency by the will of the Lord to lead the living being to eternal life. When a living being is thus graced by the will of the Lord, he is placed in his proper constitutional position to enjoy eternal spiritual life.”

Thus we may try to understand how the body of the unalloyed uttama-adhikari pure devotee of Sri Krsna, is fully transformed and surcharged with the internal potency. Not at all a cheap thing!

    Yhs,
    Balaram das.

  3. Being a sincere and serious disciple of a spiritual master, being
a sincere and serious devotee of Sri Sri Radha and Krsna is also
    not a cheap thing.

Just as there are bogus or unqualified spiritual masters there are
also bogus or unqualified devotees dressed up as vaisnavas, as servants
of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna. They talk nonsense,
    do nonsense.

Some are far worse. They cause mental and bodily harm.

    HARE KRSNA.

  4. Even Bhakti Vikas swami has been saying recently that the GBC guru voting system is a failure, because for one thing, it forces people to accept a person as a guru that they may not think is qualified to be their guru. Its a Vatican style “guru by vote idea,” which is not approved in the Vedas. ys pd
