People jubilant over inscription of Bhagavad-Gita on gold pendant

Kolkata, May 21 (ANI): The devout are happy that they can now wear in neck a golden pendant scripted with the Bhagavad-Gita.

All the eighteen chapters including 700 shlokas or holy verses have been inscribed in 24 carat gold on a one centimetre square gold pendant.

Tanishq is marketing the product available in different designs. It is claimed to be the ‘world’s smallest Gita’.

“This is been done in one square centimetre. Total in this particular writing, all writings are in 24 carat gold. There is total number of 18 chapters. Total chapters are available in complete Bhagavad-Gita that is being insisted here and there are 700 shlokas (verses), which are there. This is world’s smallest Gita till now whatever is been made so far,” said Dwaipayan Sen, regional manager, Tanishq.

The customers expressed happiness. They believe the smallest Gita in gold is good not only for the eye but also for the soul.

“I mean to see itself was a really great feeling. I am just buying one. I wish it’s going to be a great feeling for me at home also,” said Anirban Banerjee, a customer.

Inscribed on either side of the pendant, the 700 Sanskrit verses of the Gita become legible under a 200X microscope. These are visible under a 20X microscope.

The minute inscriptions have been engraved with the help of a technology developed by a professor of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, according to Tanishq officials. By Ajitha Menon (ANI)
