About Srila Prabhupada letter to Hamsaduta letting him know that HE WANTS his disciples to get the title of Bhaktivedanta and in the future initiate their own disciples.
- A father always WANTS his son to accept a good education and thus become a great man.
- A real teacher always WANTS all students to study, learn, pass their studies and that they become highly qualified people as doctors, lawyers, architects, … etc.
- A teacher always WANTS his students to be applied and disciplined, he always WANTS all students to pass their studies with sufficient qualifications.
This is the happiness and pride of every BONA FIDE teacher, of every bona fide father. But unfortunately there are two very different things: the desire of the parents or the teacher and the reality of the child or student. The good desire of the teacher does not mean that his subordinate acquire the level of qualification required and wished by the teacher.
Two different things:
- 1.The kind desire of the bona fide parent or teacher
- 2.The different reality contrary to this desire that not all children, not all students meet the expectations, what is expected of them.
Many students have to be suspended and fail to pass their studies AGAINST THE GOOD WILL OF THEIR TEACHERS, because of the lack of proper personal qualification. THIS IS A VERY NORMAL AND EVERYDAY REALITY WORLDWIDE ACCEPTED.
If a student has not achieved the platform of sufficient qualification required according to the established standard, then his master is forced, against his will, not to make the certificate,THE ORDER , AUTHORIZATION,officially required for such a student to legally perform certain professional activities,to be a regular doctor, a regular lawyer, regular faculty members of schools of nursing, A REGULAR GURU…etc. For performing certain activity or occupation properly or successfully it is necessary to have certain qualifications.
In this case the authorization, the certificate, THE ORDER, from a higher authority is the essential condition to carry out that profession or occupation LAWFULLY,to be a regular doctor,a regular lawyer,A REGULAR GURU…etc. This is the meaning of “regular” on this specific case according to Srila Prabhupada and the dictionary.

Srila Prabhupada: “Nobody can be self-made anything.
A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER , he cannot become self-made, that “I have studied all the medical books in my home.” No. “Have you ever gone to THE MEDICAL COLLEGE and taken instruction from THE BONA FIDE TEACHERS?” Then, if you have got THE CERTIFICATE , then you are medical practitioner. IT MUST BE AWARDED BY SOME SUPERIOR AUTHORITY.”
(Śrī Īśopaniṣad-Mantra Eight-Purport by Srila Prabhupada)
—-
Prabhupada: “WHEN I ORDER , “You become GURU,” he becomes REGULAR GURU. That’s all. He becomes disciple of my disciple. That’s it.” (Srila Prabhupada Conversation, May 28, 1977, Vrindavan)

Prabhupāda: BUT HE´S A TEACHER, HE´S AN AUTHORIZED TEACHER, APPOINTED BY THE SCHOOL,AUTHORITY. (Room Conversation — September 18, 1973, Bombay)

THAT´S IS THE ONLY MEANING OF THE TERM “REGULAR” APPLIED TO A PERSON WHO NEEDS THE ORDER,AUTHORIZATION, OF HIS SUPERIOR AUTHORITY TO PERFORM REGULARLY A OCCUPATION BECAUSE OF THE PRESENCE OF THE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS.
This is the correct meaning of “regular”, “REGULAR GURU”,”regular doctor,…etc, according to the dictionary when applied to an activity or occupation that requires some qualification,
“REGULAR” in these cases means that a person has been ordered or authorized by the higher authority to perform such activity due to having the required qualifications.
On these cases REGULAR and BONA FIDE are the same.
WITHOUT THE ORDER,CERTIFICATE,AUTORIZATION,OF THE PROPER AND BONA FIDE SUPERIOR AUTHORITY NOBODY CAN BECOME LAWFULLY A BONA FIDE,REGULAR DOCTOR,REGULAR LAWYER…ETC.
TO RECEIVE,TO HAVE THE ORDER OF THE AUTHORITY IS THE ESSENTIAL CONDITION,CONDITION “SINE QUA NON”,UNLESS….
WITHOUT “THE ORDER” NOBODY CAN BECOME BONA FIDE, “REGULAR” IN A OCCUPATION,PROFESSION,…etc.
Example: I suspected the man wasn’t a regular doctor.
ONE CANNOT become “regular” UNLESS he has the order of the bona fide authority.
Who is the bona fide superior authority on this spiritual educational institution of Krsna consciousness?
Prabhupāda: “Authority is your spiritual master. You do not know who is authority? Why this question is there? If one is initiated, then he accepted the authority. And if he does not follow the instruction of spiritual master, he is a rascal. He is defying the authority. That’s all.” (Srila Prabhupada Lecture on BG 17.1-3 Honolulu, July 4, 1974.)
Note: Srila Prabhupada was, Srila Prabhupada is, Srila Prabhupada always will be the superior authority.

In the field of the Krsna consciousness science no one can be a regular guru without the presence of the proper authorization or order by the appropriate authority, Srila Prabhupada. The presence of such an order in any field of knowledge, both material and spiritual,is a condition sine qua non, absolute and categorical.
SINE QUA NON = ”UNLESS …ONE CANNOT…”
Srila Prabhupada quite often use this expression: ” ONE CANNOT…,UNLESS HE …”, ”UNLESS HE …,ONE CANNOT…”
sine qua non :
.An essential element,condition or requirement.
.essential condition
.[literally: without which not]
.without which nothing,
.something that is absolutely essential.
.Something indispensable
.something absolutely indispensable or essential
.something that is absolutely needed
.something that is required in advance;
.a prerequisite
Synonyms
condition, demand, must, must-have, necessary, necessity, need, needful, requirement, requisite, essential, precondition, prerequisite,
Example: an extensive grounding in mathematics is a sine qua non for a career in architecture.
Antonyms
nonessential, nonnecessity
THE BONA FIDE ORDER COMING FROM THE BONA FIDE AUTHORITY IT MAKES ONE BONA FIDE,GENUINE,REGULAR, LEGITIMATE OR PROPER.
THIS IS A VERY NORMAL AND EVERYDAY REALITY WORLDWIDE ACCEPTED IN ANY COLLEGE, IN ANY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION.
- Everyone understands this.
- Nobody is surprised at this.
- We need the certificate.
- Only some members of ISKCON,a educational institution, are surprised at this.
- This understanding is the beginning of the beginning of the educational process.
- It is not really very high.
- It is the most basic and elementary.
The existence o f the order is the certificate to be bona fide,to have the required and needed qualifications to occupy the post, the guarantee that someone is properly qualified to make or perform a work, job, or function correctly adequately.
This whole process is a universal law, omnipresent in the daily life of this world,in all fields of activity, both material and spiritual, wherever they are needed certain specific qualifications to perform a specific function.
In accordance with a list of preestablished standard qualifications someone who is the authority makes a selection of those who according to his judgment or consideration are properly qualified, optimally qualified,to perform a specific function successfully, correctly in an optimal manner.
This is the normal meaning of QUALIFICATION,QUALIFIED.
Is needed the presence of certain good qualities, qualifications, in a person to successfully perform a job or function, and the presence of another person, an authority, who determines which people are suitably qualified.
ALL THIS IS CONTAINED INSIDE THE MEANING OF THE TERM “QUALIFICATION FOR A POSITION OR POST.”
This is an omnipresent universal law in all spheres of life. The existence of this order is the guarantee that someone is genuine or bona fide, especially in the spiritual field.

SRILA PRABHUPADA QUOTES:
Srila Prabhupada, NOD Lecture, Vrindaban, India -October 31, 1972:
SELF-MADE GURU CANNOT BE GURU, HE MUST BE AUTHORIZED BY THE BONA FIDE GURU. THEN HE´S GURU. This is the fact. Nobody can be self-made anything.
A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER , he cannot become self-made, that “I have studied all the medical books in my home.” No. “Have you ever gone to the medical college and taken instruction from THE BONA FIDE TEACHERS ?” Then, if you have got THE CERTIFICATE , then you are medical practitioner. Similarly, BONA FIDE GURU MEANS HE MUST BE AUTHORIZED BY THE SUPERIOR GURU. (Srila Prabhupada, NOD Lecture, Vrindaban, India -October 31, 1972)

“A GURU CAN BECOME GURU WHEN HE IS ORDERED BY HIS GURU.” That’s all. ”OTHERWISE NOBODY CAN BECOME GURU.” (Bhagavad-gita class, Nairobi (October 28, 1975)

GURU CANNOT BE SELF-MADE. NO
There is no such single instance throughout the whole Vedic literature. And nowadays, so many rascals, they are becoming guru without any authority. That is not guru.
YOU MUST BE AUTHORIZED.
Evam parampara-praptam imam ra… [Bg. 4.2]. As soon as the parampara is lost, sa kalena yoga nasto parantapa, immediately finished. The spiritual potency finished. You can dress like a guru, you can talk big, big words, but it will never be effective. ( SB 7.9.7 -Mayapur, February 27, 1977 )
—-
“Attempting to become a guru WITHOUT ONE´S OWN GURU´S ORDER is a materialistic ambition.”
“An actual guru always remains the servant of his own guru and the predecessor acaryas. Attempting to become a guru without one’s own guru’s order is a materialistic ambition. Accepting followers and circumventing one’s own guru is offensive.” >>> Ref. VedaBase => MGM 22-11: A Lost Son Visits Home

“One should take initiation from A BONA FIDE spiritual master COMING IN THE DISCIPLIC SUCCESSION, WHO IS AUTHORIZED BY HIS PREDECESSOR SPIRITUAL MASTER . This is called diksa -vidhana.” (S.B. 4.8.54, purport)

Indian man: When did you become spiritual the leader of Krsna Consciousness?
Srila Prabhupada: What is that?
Brahmananda: He is asking when did you become the spiritual leader of Krsna Consciousness?
Srila Prabhupada: WHEM MY GURU MAHARAJA ORDERED ME. THIS IS THE GURU PARAMPARA.
Indian man: Did it…
Srila Prabhupada: Try to understand. Don’t go very speedily.
A GURU CAN BECOME GURU WHEN HE IS ORDERED BY HIS GURU. THAT´S ALL. OTHERWISE NOBODY CAN BECOME GURU.”
(SP Bg. Lecture, 28/10/75)

“On the whole, you may know that he is not a liberated person, and therefore, he cannot initiate any person to Krsna Consciousness. It requires SPECIAL SPIRITUAL BENEDICTIONFROM HIGHER AUTHORITIES.” (SP Letter to Janardana, 26/4/68)

“Vallabha Bhatta wanted to be initiated by Gadadhara Pandita, but Gadadhara Pandita refused, saying, “The work of acting as a spiritual master is not possible for me. ” I AM COMPLETELY DEPENDENT. My Lord is Gauracandra, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. I CANNOT DO ANYTHING INDEPENDENTLY, WITHOUT HIS ORDER .” (CC, Antya 7:150-151)

“NOT PROPERLY AUTHORIZED,and ONLY ON HIS OWN INITIATIVE”
The Nectar of Devotion – 1970 Edition-NoD 14: Devotional Qualifications
-The spiritual master must never be carried away by
–an accumulation of wealth or
–a large number of followers.
A BONA FIDE spiritual master will never become like that.
But sometimes, if a spiritual master is NOT PROPERLY AUTHORIZED, and ONLY ON HIS OWN INITIATIVE becomes a spiritual master, he may be carried away by
-an accumulation of wealth and
-large numbers of disciples.
His is not a very high grade of devotional service. If a person is carried away by such achievements, then his devotional service becomes slackened.
ONE SHOULD , therefore, STRICTLY ADHERE TO THE PRINCIPLES OF DISCIPLIC SUCESSION.

On the next quote, herein it refers to a acarya who ALSO inherits the institution of his spiritual master, with all its assets:devotees, buildings, money, friends, infrastructure, reputation or social good image, a famous institution reputable or with good name …etc.
This is the same situation that happened after the departure of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
To become acarya of the institution of his spiritual master.
Herein there are two points:
- 1.To become acarya.
- 2.Successor and inheritor of the institution of the previous acarya, of his spiritual master,
– Srila Prabhupada, Conversation, August 16, 1976, Bombay, India
“… I have also read specifically your articles on the matter of acharyas, wherein on the 14th paragraph I see
THE ACHARYA SHALL BE ENTITLED TO NOMINATE IN WRITING HIS SUCCESSIVE ACHARYA.
But we do not find ANY RECORD WHERE OUR SRILA PRABHUPADA NOMINATED ANY ACHARYA AFTER HIM.
Different persons have interpreted on this point, and everyone of our God brothers are acting as acharya, so this is a controversial point which I do not wish to enter into while we are proposing for co-operation…”
—-
Srila Prabhupada, Letter to Swami Bhagavata Maharaja, August 21, 1969, Los Angeles.
WHERE IS THE ACTUAL VERIFIABLE RECORD THAT SRILA PRABHUPADA (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta) “NOMINATED ANY ACHARYA AFTER HIM”?

“Therefore GURU MUST BE AUTHORIZED PERSON, not that bhumi-phala-guru. No. I am guru,” no. You cannot become guru unless you are agent to draw out the mercy water from the ocean of mercy of Krsna. That is guru. And therefore a guru is not an ordinary person. He is the representative, bona fide representative of Krsna.” (SB Lecture,November 30, 1976)

“The schoolmasters in the modern days are paid agents for giving some information, but the spiritual master is not a paid agent. Nor can he impart instruction WITHOUT BEING AUTHORIZED.” (SB:2.9.43, purport)

“Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, at the time of his departure, requested all his disciples to form a governing body and conduct missionary activities cooperatively. He did not instruct a particular man to become the next acarya. But just after his passing away, his leading secretaries made plans, WITHOUT AUTHORITY,TO OCCUPY THE POST OF ACARYA , and they split into two factions over who the next acarya would be. Consequently, both factions were asara, or useless, because THEY HAVE NO AUTHORITY, HAVING DISOBEYED THE ORDER OF THE SPIRITUAL MASTER .” (Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi-lila, 12.8, purport)

“Why this Gaudiya Matha failed?
Because they tried to become more than guru. […]
THEY DECLARED SOME UNFIT PERSON TO BECOME ACARYA.
Then another man came, then another, acarya, another acarya.”
(Srila Prabhupada, Room Conversation, August 16, 1976)
—-
Srila Prabhupada: “He, [Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura, founder of the Gaudiya Matha] before passing away, he gave them all direction – and he NEVER said that this man should be the next [guru] acharya. But these people, just after he passed away, they began to fight, ‘Who shall be the next acharya? ” That is the failure. They never thought, ‘guru maharaja gave us instruction on so many things, WHY DID HE NOT SAY ,”THIS MAN SHOULD BE THE NEXT ACHARYA?” They wanted to create somebody ARTIFICIALLY as acharya and EVERYTHING FAILED. “They did not even consider common sense – that if guru maharaja had wanted TO APPOINT SOMEBODY AS ACHARYA, WHY HE DID NOT SAY? He said so many things and this point he missed? The main point? And they insisted on it. They declared, ‘Come on unfit persons to become acharya,’ then another man comes, then another, then another. So better to remain a foolish person perpetually to be directed by guru maharaja. So that is perfection. And as soon as it was announced that, ‘Guru maharaja is dead, now I am so advanced that I can kill my guru and become [guru]’.” (CONV 8/15/76)
