Letter to Bhakti Charu / GBC – please leave us alone

DEAR BHAKTI CHARU SWAMI,

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Mahamandaleshwar Mahant Krsna Balaram Swami.

Attached you will find a scanned copy of a letter from Krsna Balaram Swamiji written to you on December 9th 2015 and mailed to you at the Mayapur address from a USA address. I found out yesterday during a discussion with Swamiji where the temple president of ISKCON Vrindavan Pancagauda das and Sri Krsna Balaram Swamiji’s godbrother Sriman Banabhatta Prabhu were present, that Swamiji has not received a reply to the letter mailed to you. I have read the letter and it would amaze me if Swamiji does not receive a reply from your holiness. I would kindly ask if you could spare some of your time to answer Swamiji’s letter.

My name is Krishna Kirtan and I was raised in ISKCON Gurukula. During the past year I have learned quite a lot about Sri Krsna Balaram Swami and have come to accept him as my Spiritual Master after having researched and rejected other options, inside and outside ISKCON.

Over a year ago I was asked to volunteer to work on Srila Prabhupada’s disciple database and website in connection to The Legacy Project headed by Nandalal devi dasi, which I accepted and worked on it for sometime. Just about that time the leaders of Krsna Balaram Mandir in Vrindavan were trying to get the names and current location of all Srila Prabhupada’s disciples around the world today living either inside or outside ISKCON but who were present during the inauguration in 1975, so invitations could be sent to all of them for the 40th Anniversary festival. These were considered the most important people for invitations to be sent to, and I had been asked to recompile the database and extract names into such list.

When learning that Krsna Balaram Swami was a Vrajavasi who was present during the inauguration and was also a Srila Prabhupada disciple, I asked that he also be sent an invitation like all the others, but those responsible for the invitation list were not forthcoming about my request. The fact that Krsna Balaram Swamiji was not being invited like everyone else was very disappointing, apart from the fact that his residence is only less than 1 kilometer away from the temple. The guideline for the invitation list was to find all Srila Prabhupada’s disciples anywhere in the world who were present during the inauguration and send them an invitation, either printed or by email. The invitations were sent to all and regrettably Swamiji was not included and he did not receive an invitation, nor did I hear any more word about my request, although I had insisted. Soon after this happened I left the entire Legacy Project in disappointment. I would imagine that at least the courtesy of an invitation would have been appropriate, since that was the objective of the invitation list effort. In any case, I am sharing this with you because as I understand ISKCON leaders maybe dead set against our Swamiji, but the Guru and disciple relationship should not be disrupted because that is a spiritual connection. So I ask, what loss would there be by having Swamiji’s name in the invitation list?

Swamiji had collected for the construction of the Krsna Balaram Temple and had joined long before the inauguration in 1975. He had collected a lot funds for the constructions, was present for the inauguration, and is a Srila Prabhupada disciple; therefore it is very unfortunate that this happened and that he was not invited. It is very amazing to me that ex-cow-eaters, those who fell down, and some who even went back to eating and drinking such unwanted things again, have become so averse to a devotee born in Vrindavan who did so much service and altogether, that he was not even extended the courtesy of making him aware that such festival was taking place. I have also learned that even for Srila Prabhupada’s centennial celebrations our Swamiji was also not informed nor invited to participate.

I hope to receive a reply from you in connection to this. If anything please kindly acknowledge the letter Swamiji wrote to you this last December (attached).

Thank you very much. Jay Sri Radhe!

Your servant,
Krishna Kirtan

December 09, 2015 – Dear Bhakticharu Swami,

Jai Sri Radhe. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Lord Sri Sri Radha Govindaji. I hope you are well.

If it is possible please read this letter to the whole body of GBC on my behalf? I will appreciate and remain obliged to your kind help. I dare to ask you this favor because I had helped you by bringing you out of your debt in those days. Therefore please do me this favor.

Dear GBC,
Jai Sri Radhe.

I am Krsna Balaram Swami, I had officially resigned from your present day ISKCON and have nothing do with it. Long ago, I had received a letter from your legal department (San diego) saying that I should not use any quotes, or pictures, photos or copies of paintings in our books from Srila Prabhupada’s books. I follow that order and shall follow it till I die from this world. I also received a letter from Gopala Krishna Swami saying that I will not be sold any books, magazines or pamphlets from the BBT. I tolerate that order and started writing books due to this reason. Our spiritual society also has a basis, books. As I have nothing to do with present day ISKCON society, I should not be disturbed by you or by your people. For example, His Holiness Trivikrama Swami sent his female disciple to climb upon our Vyasasana upon which I was sitting and put her right foot on my head while speaking obnoxiously. She did this in front of our Brahmachari disciples. She told me that she was a disciple of Trivikram and she was collecting funds in Hawaii for him. But when one of our students contacted Swamiji he said she is not his disciple. Who is lying will decided when we depart from this world. It is fine with me that present day ISKCON hates me and offends me, beats me, and so on but it is not good to do such things in front of the disciples. No Vaisnava does such things like throwing eggs onto the newly painted wooden gate of our Vrindaban temple. I have no enemies in Vrindaban or anywhere else who would come in the dead of night and do such an obnoxious thing. Moreover throwing eggs is not an Indian style torture especially to a temple or by Vrindaban people.

There are many, many such examples of none Vaisnava behaviors and such things should not be done to a devotee. I have not yet told anyone (especially outside of ISKCON) because I do not want ISKCON people to be spit upon or worse. I do not think anyone in Vrindaban will tolerate such behavior with us. Thinking that everyone in Vrindaban likes ISKCON and hates me is not correct.

Srila Prabvhupada’s godbrothers were also against Srila Prabhupada but they did not do such obnoxious things to him because this is not the Vaisnava style. For example, some of you may remember, Long ago, Srila Prabhupada was asked by his godbrothers in a meeting of them in Mayapur not to use the ‘Prabhupada’ title because, as per them, that title was reserved for Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati. But they did not do any obnoxious things against Srila Prabhupada because his godbrothers were all Vedic Vaisnavas. Srila Prabhupada carried on using his title because Srila Prabhupada’s great disciple is Srila Prabhupada. None of Srila Prabhuada’s godbrothers or their people threw eggs at the Mayapur temple gate nor sent any of their female disciple to climb unto our Srila Prabhupada’s Vyasasana and put her foot on Srila Prabhupada’s head in front of us. I think it is the time to stop all this nonsense and carry on with devotional service without accumulating offenses. When I say anything it is not offensive because the words are proven (in black and white) by the ancient Vedic scriptures. But what you say or do cannot be proven by any scriptures and they are very offensive. Saying JAYA JAYA VRINDABANA VASIJATA JANA, or JAYA RADHE JAYA KRSNA JAYA VRINDAVAN, and doing such things to a devotee born and raised in Vrindaban is carefully watched by a superior authority to whom we all have to answer to after our demise from this world.

We have a separate temple, separate set of books, separate devotees, separate spiritual activities, separate style of doing things and after death a separate destination. That is why please leave us alone and this need not go further than this because it may not bring a palatable result. I humbly request you to kindly please give some heed to this letter.

Jai Sri Radhe.
A humble servant of Srila Prabhupada,

Krsna Balaram Swami

Srila Prabhupada’s instruction on wet stool or dry stool comes to mind. Which is better wet stool or dry stool?
What is difference between these folks? BOTH sides want to REPLACE Srila Prabhupada as Diksa Guru and reject July 9th 1977 Ritvik Order. Both sides want to be worshiped “as good as God”.
Stool is stool. What is there to compare?

    No offense intended –
I would like to comment on “ISKCON Exposed”
and “Letter to Bhakti Charu / GBC – please leave us alone”.

I hope this site will not publish let’s say Paramadvaiti Maharaj ‘s recollections and their disciples’ kind, touching writings. In this case he will be also legalize for some or many devotees.
This story means for me that a unauthorized person exposes unauthorized persons.

    Hare Krsna
