KALIYUGA, THE CLOUDY SEASON OF THE LIVING ENTITIES

KRSNA BOOK, Chapter Twenty – Description of Autumn

During the rainy season, in the evening, there are many glowworms visible about the tops of trees, hither and thither, and they glitter just like lights. But the luminaries of the sky, the stars and the moons, are not visible. Similarly, in the age of Kali, persons who are atheists or miscreants become very prominently visible, whereas persons who are actually following the Vedic principles for spiritual emancipation are practically obscured. This age, Kaliyuga, is compared to the cloudy season of the living entities. In this age, real knowledge is covered by the influence of material advancement of civilization. The cheap mental speculators, atheists and manufacturers of so-called religious principles become prominent like the glowworms, whereas persons strictly following the Vedic principles or scriptural injunctions become covered by the clouds of this age. People should learn to take advantage of the actual luminaries of the sky, the sun, moon, and stars, instead of the glowworm’s light. Actually, the glowworm cannot give any light in the darkness of night. As clouds sometimes clear, even in the rainy season, and sometimes the moon, stars and sun become visible, so even in this Kaliyuga there are sometimes advantages. The Vedic movement of Lord Caitanya’s–the distribution of chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra–is heard in this way. People seriously anxious to find real light should take advantage of this movement instead of looking toward the light of mental speculators and atheists.

Due to rainfall, the grass, trees and vegetation look very green. The farmer then becomes very happy to see his field full of grains, but the capitalists–who are always unaware of the activities of a supernatural power–become unhappy because they are afraid of a competitive price. In some places certain capitalists in government restrict the farmer from producing too much grains, not knowing the actual fact that all food grains are supplied by the Supreme Personality of Godhead. According to the Vedic injunction, eko bahūnāṁ yo vidadhāti kāmān, the Supreme Personality of Godhead maintains this creation; therefore, He arranges for a supply of whatever is required for all living entities. When there is population increase, it is the business of the Supreme Lord to feed them. But persons who are atheists or miscreants do not like abundant production of food grains, especially if their business might be hampered.

The barriers around the agricultural field sometimes break due to heavy torrents of rain. Similarly, the unauthorized atheistic propaganda in the age of Kali breaks the boundary of the Vedic injunctions. Thus people gradually degenerate to godlessness.

It is stated in the Bhagavad-gītā that the material energy, or nature, is not independent in its actions. Nature is acting under the superintendence of Kṛṣṇa. It is also stated in the Brahma-saṁhitā that material nature, known as Durgā, is acting as the shadow of Kṛṣṇa. Whatever order is sent from Kṛṣṇa, material nature obeys.

Sometimes in autumn the falls come down from the top of the hill to supply clean water, and sometimes they stop. Similarly, sometimes great saintly persons distribute clear knowledge, and sometimes they are silent. The small ponds which were filled with water because of the rainy season, gradually dry up in autumn. As for the tiny aquatics living in the reservoirs, they cannot understand that their numbers are diminishing day by day, as the materially engrossed persons cannot understand that their duration of life is being reduced day by day. Such persons are engaged in maintaining cows, property, children, wife, society and friendship. Due to the reduced water and scorching heat from the sun in the autumn season, the small creatures living in small reservoirs of water are much disturbed; they are exactly like uncontrolled persons who are always unhappy.

IN THIS AGE, KALIYUGA , THE INFLUENCE OF MATERIAL ADVANCEMENT OF CIVILISATION IS PROMINENT.

When the industrial revolution started about 200 years ago many people moved from the countryside to the developing cities in search for jobs in the factories of the manufacturing and chemical industries.

The  owners of these businesses call themselves technocrats due to their ability to optimise business processes. Now, 200 years later, every human on earth is consuming at least one of their products every day: machines, cars, electricity, gas, techstuff, food, cosmetics, fertilisers, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, gasoline…..

In pursuit of huge business profits and technological achievements nature has been exploited more and more. Today, in many places, there is hardly any real nature left. Rabbits, crows and cockroaches do not count.  Now there are 50 year old pine trees and genetically modified crops.

Dependency on nature, as it is, has slowly been replaced by an artificial technological lifestyle, biodiversity through monoculture and predators by pets.  Everything natural has been modified, sprayed with pesticides, all clean, sterile and no stone has been left unturned. Many people have moved to the urban jungle which promises a relatively comfortable living situation with enough food and sanitation. The only threat today is unemployment. This is too much complacency for the technocrats. Controllers do not like to loose control that is why there has to be always some threatening, terrible and invisible enemy to horrify the people in the same way little children can be scared to stay in bed with the story of the invisible Momo beneath it.

WHEN THERE IS POPULATION INCREASE, IT IS THE BUSINESS OF THE SUPREME LORD TO FEED THEM.

People used to dread rattlesnakes, tigers, lions and vultures. Today these animal mostly do not exist anymore, are almost extinct.  No need to be scared anymore, all nice than? Not for the technocrats. By now many of their customers have become themselves relatively prosperous, industrious and are happily occupying a portion of earth. Way too much and way too many in the technocrats estimation. Happy, industrious individuals surrounded by friends and relatives are hard to control, to manipulate and do not make good customers. A good consumer will not always be able to resist the image of the world created in advertising, which is often a very unrealistic one. A fearful, silent loner is an easy sell.

IN THIS AGE, KALIYUGA, ATHEISTS OR MISCREANTS BECOME VERY PROMINENTLY VISIBLE.

In the urban jungle there are no rattlesnakes, tigers, lions and vultures. It is an unnatural lifestyle. In this artificial, unnatural environment they have recently named an enemy that they proclaimed would create the same threat. According to their propaganda the threatening, terrible, invisible, natural enemies are your natural ingredients in yourself and your opposite. With this in mind, through the perfection of the different, new communication technologies during the past 10 years, they have succeeded in turning the people in fear against each other. Their fervent, religiously repeated sermon is as follows: cruel nature will kill you, every single person out there can kill you.

Today the different, new and old communication technologies unanimously advertise the invisible, threatening, natural enemy to be inside the people themselves: Inside your goodself, inside your opposite is something terribly natural which will kill you, will kill him. Why? Because there are millions and billions of minuscule, atomic size, natural germs living happily together in your intestines. They live in all natural life forms in similar numbers since the beginning of creation, in fact it is a natural life form itself. This natural life form was always here and will continue to be here forever. It is invisible, natural.

NATURE IS ACTING UNDER THE SUPERINTENDENCE OF KRSNA.

There are good and bad, natural bacteria and microbes. If you take meat, fish, eggs, alcohol, drugs, the blood becomes too acidic. On this acidic blood the bad ones are feasting. They become stronger than the good ones, do harm and make you sick. By taking good stuff, fruits, milk, vegetables, grains, the blood becomes more alkaline. The alkaline blood fattens up the good germs and starves the bad ones. The good ones become strong, fight the bad ones successfully and you stay healthy. That is the way nature has arranged for the system in all bodies to work.

IN KALIYUGA, ATHEISTS AND MANUFACTURERS OF SO-CALLED RELIGIOUS PRINCIPLES BECOME PROMINENT LIKE THE GLOWWORMS.

Our natural instinct is to fear the invisible. When it’s dark we can’t see anything and when we hear some noise, we are naturally afraid. Exactly this basic, natural instinct they address with the imagination of a threatening, natural, terrible enemy who is waiting, unseen and everywhere, ready to pounce on its unsuspecting prey.

But the saviour is here. Not nature and God but artificial, scientific and technological advancement claims to give protection against all threatening, terrible, invisible and natural enemies. Within the last 10 years Communication Technology has been driven to perfection. The  Church of Tech now offers to keep your precious, earthly belongings, out of the reach of invisible, natural enemies. They are safe in some white clouds in the imaginary, virtual, blue and sunny sky, also invisible. What a beautiful, invisible place, no threatening, terrible nature, who would not want to live there? No place for you yet but your photos, your banking, your fitness, your entertainment, your communications, in short everything dear and valuable to you can be stored there, for free.

THE SMALL PONDS WHICH WERE FILLED WITH WATER BECAUSE OF THE RAINY SEASON, GRADUALLY DRY UP IN AUTUMN. AS FOR THE TINY AQUATICS LIVING IN THE RESERVOIRS, THEY CANNOT UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR NUMBERS ARE DIMINISHING DAY BY DAY.

The Church of Science and Technology advertises a cheap, happy, safe and convenient way to go about daily life. In addition it informs you how the weather is outside the window, it promises to inform you 24/7 about potential risks and dangers in the dangerous, natural world and there is no need to talk anymore person to person with other dangerous people. It preaches that it is all knowing, it proclaims to give you the answers to all questions and imagine, all of this for free. It sounds like heaven on Earth. A heaven, really? Not really, with a single click they can lock you out of all your belongings.( 9 million$ donations stolen from the Canadian Truckers recently)

It is an artificially created reality, in which nature’s laws do not apply. It is a business and it’s owners make the rules. What happens if you violate their laws, what happens if you do not play by their rules and what happens if you are ignorant of their rules?

The Church of Science and Technology is a parallel world. Like a fanatic, religious cult it has covered it’s objectives in a veil of fantasy. It is deceiving because it advertises a pleasant, convenient, safe, sterile, clean, disinfected, quarantined, happy and perfect place. Unlike the dangerous, dirty, threatening, troublesome, natural world it is invisible. It is impossible here to distinguish between substance and simulation, reality and illusion. It feels so good, it is so easy, it is so cheap, it is so perfect, who will not love it ?

Than, two years ago the Church of Tech decided to change some rules. Now they are slowly showing all their true intentions. It is their dominion of their virtual creation and you must abide, you are a visitor in their technological theme park, you are a nothing for them, you own nothing in their world if they decide to say NO. They decided to use the absolute power of their virtual reality while you are more and more dependent on it. Like a tiger in the jungle pouncing on its prey at the opportune moment, the owners of the Church of Science and Technology have started a surprise, all out attack, on the real world and its real human population. Their artificial, technological howling and barking has driven the members of their congregation into real panic, real paranoia and total confusion.

PEOPLE SHOULD LEARN TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE ACTUAL LUMINARIES OF THE SKY, THE SUN, MOON, AND STARS, INSTEAD OF THE GLOWWORMS LIGHT. ACTUALLY, THE GLOWWORM CANNOT GIVE ANY LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS OF NIGHT.

If there is danger in the real, normal world what would be a rational reaction? If there is warning that a pack of wolves is coming to the valley, what is the natural reaction of  the shepherds ? They will come together, talk, discuss, scrutinise the situation. Finally, after some deliberation, they will decide whether to put the sheep in the middle, put all their cars around and all together will wait with their shotguns for the wolves to attack and than shoot. In the real, actual world a real, actual problem is solved by actually real talking and working it out together with real, actual people. That is the normal and natural behaviour to effectively solve a real, actual problem. Discussing the supposed problem together, standing together and dismissing it or getting rid of the problem together. That is the real world and that is how it has always been until Brother Tech came along 2 years ago and told the shepherd he can  fend off a pack of wolves single handedly.

If a real cobra is seen in a village in India all the villagers will be called together and together they will look under every stone, in every house, in every nook and corner. This way, talking, yelling and shouting, they will find the real snake, kill it, quarter it up and finally burn it. By talking the problem is solved. No real cobra will be killed by you taking a photo of it with a mobile. If you text pest control for help nobody will come that fast if it is a weekend or evening.

Real problems in the real, natural world are solved by discussing it with other, real people: asking a neighbour for help, discussing with friends after work, having dinner with family, talking with employees in a meeting, talking with about everybody. That is natural, normal, rational and sane behaviour. Talking with other real people, together real problems are evaluated and than solved.

Besides the whole corporate big business world today functions on this principle: together they are strong. Huge tech conglomerates join together to dominate the market. Big chemical consists of a handful of original, 200 year old, companies with hundreds of sub firms. Now why does Brother Tech tell us to do the opposite? If Playing golf, socialising and dining out together works so well for big business for solving their problems, it should work good for the small people too, namely, staying together, supporting each other as friends, family, neighbors, united, strong, or? Why do all governments today gang up and stand united against the people of their countries, but preach relentlessly with missionary zeal the opposite? If the opposite they preach is so effective why don’t all of them show by personal example that each one for himself is so effective, if the problem is real ?

Invisible Brother Tech preaches exactly the opposite of what one should do and advertises safety and security in the anticipation of self proclaimed danger, that is: disperse, hide, isolate and most importantly: shut up, do not talk and do not sing.

THE BARRIERS AROUND THE AGRICULTURAL FIELD SOMETIMES BREAK DUE TO HEAVY TORRENTS OF RAIN. SIMILARLY, THE UNAUTHORISED ATHEISTIC PROPAGANDA IN THE AGE OF KALI BREAKS THE BOUNDARY OF VEDIC INJUNCTIONS.

The more you comply to these no(n)sense ideas the more you let Brother Tech’s preaching control you. These technocrats have made a fortune in using every day for the last 200 years the bounty of natural resources given by God, while at the same time denying his existence. Now that they have somehow become so powerful they finally think themselves as good as God. They do not want anybody else to appreciate nature and God, because they want you to surrender to their sermons.

THE SINGING OF THE BIRDS IS THE LORDS WHISPER AND BEAUTIFUL NATURE IS BUT THE LORDS SMILE.

The face of the Lord is the embodiment of beauty. What they call beautiful nature is but His smile, and what they call the sweet songs of the birds are but specimens of the whispering voice of the Lord. (Srimad Bhagavatam) People admiring real nature, as it is, stands in their way to power and control. People’s recognition of the absolute and mighty power of the Supreme Lord, the principal controller of everything, stands in their way to power and control.

The Atheists want everybody to listen only to the gospel of Brother Tech and for that to happen men have to be scared to death of threatening, invisible, terrible, real nature and forget God. The technocrats aim at erasing real, beautiful nature and the merciful, Supreme God out of the memory and vocabulary of mankind forever and want to substitute the real world with their vision of a virtual, artificial, controlled environment. Because their new, artificial, virtual world view is designed to please the users, they are lulled into a false sense of comfort and false security. The indiscriminate, careless use of fascinating new technologies is leading people astray and making people forget that there is a real God and a real, beautiful nature.

DUE TO THE REDUCED WATER AND SCORCHING HEAT FROM THE SUN IN THE AUTUMN SEASON, THE SMALL CREATURES LIVING IN THE SMALL RESERVOIRS OF WATER ARE VERY MUCH DISTURBED.

Because nature in their virtual world view is made to look so threatening, so scary and so threatening, supposedly safe, supposedly foolproof and supposedly all-knowing tech is the artificial tool that gives the technocrats the ability to exploit, control and play upon their objects by artful, unfair and insidious means to serve their own purposes.

With the help of dazzling, new technological achievements the Church of Science and Tech has been able to completely blind and indoctrinate the trusting masses of people. They advertise that new scientific inventions, material development and the new chemicals they invented are the only alternative, the only solution, the only cure, the only safe thing for your “protection” against the invisible, horrifying threats of nature today. According to the fanatic advertisements of the cult of Tech there is no other way.

THUS PEOPLE GRADUALLY DEGENERATE TO GODLESSNESS.

The unrelenting and unending sermon of the Gospel of Tech is: invisible, real nature is cruel, it will kill you, technology is good for you, the chemicals will save you. God is dead. There is no God. Science is God.

Because of fear, which implies loss of courage, people than view a situation with panic which causes them to act hysterically and irrational. Than, on the basis of fictitious, hypothetical, theoretical assumptions, so-called tested advice for so-called protection is given to which everybody than willingly and silently complies. In this way their aim is achieved: your trust, your obedience, your submission, your compliance and your total self-sacrifice. In short they want all users of Tech to morph into a frightened, phobic and mute mass of loners as perfect followers in their imaginary congregation of their artificial cult of tech.

Why ?  Easy prey, because only frightened, speechless, phobic loners will take refuge in Brother Tech and worship their mobiles messages like the words spoken by a God. Only when trembling in fear will people follow with all determination the one and only Commandment of the Church of Science and Tech which reads as follows :

The Creator of the virtual universe declares He is our God and our deliverer and asks us to silently demonstrate our love for Him by silently obeying “You shall have no other gods before Me”. One should silently love, silently honour and silently respect Him so much that He alone is the supreme authority and model in our lives. He alone is God.

Everyone is sleeping in the darkness of Kaliyuga, but when there is a great ācārya, by his calling only, everyone takes to the study of the Vedas to acquire actual knowledge. During the rainy season, many small ponds, lakes and rivulets become filled with water; otherwise the rest of the year they remain dry. Similarly, materialistic persons are dry, but sometimes, when they are in a so-called opulent position, with a home or children or a little bank balance, they appear to be flourishing, but immediately afterwards they become dry again, like the small rivulets and ponds.

During the rainy season, all living entities, in the land, sky and water, become very refreshed, exactly like one who engages in the transcendental loving service of the Lord. We have practical experience of this with our students in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Before becoming students, they were dirty looking, although they had naturally beautiful personal features; but due to having no information of Kṛṣṇa consciousness they appeared very dirty and wretched. Since they have taken to Kṛṣṇa consciousness, their health has improved, and by following the rules and regulations, their bodily luster has increased. When they are dressed with saffron colored cloth, with tilaka on their foreheads and beads in their hands and on their necks, they look exactly as if they come directly from Vaikuṇṭha.

In the rainy season, when the clouds appear for the first time, after seeing their appearance, the peacocks begin to dance with joy. This can be compared to persons who are very harassed in the materialistic way of life. If they can find the association of a person engaged in the loving devotional service of the Lord, they become enlightened, just like the peacocks when they dance. We have practical experience of this, because many of our students were dry and morose previous to their coming to Kṛṣṇa consciousness, but having come into contact with devotees, they are now dancing like jubilant peacocks.

The autumn season in Vrindavana

Everything becomes naturally beautiful with the appearance of the autumn season. Similarly, when a materialistic person takes to Kṛṣṇa consciousness and spiritual life, he also becomes as clear as the sky and water in autumn. The autumn season takes away the rolling of dark clouds in the sky as well as the polluted water. Filthy conditions on the ground also become cleansed. Similarly, a person who takes to Kṛṣṇa consciousness immediately becomes cleansed of all dirty things within and without. Kṛṣṇa is therefore known as Hari. ”Hari“ means ”he who takes away.“ Kṛṣṇa immediately takes away all unclean habits from anyone who takes to Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

When the sky is clear of all clouds, the stars at night shine very beautifully; similarly, when a person is actually situated in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he is cleared of all dirty things, and he becomes as beautiful as the stars in the autumn sky. The clean heart exhibited by a devotee in Kṛṣṇa consciousness can be compared to the clean sky of the autumn season.

On arrival of the autumn season, all the cows, deer, birds and females in general become pregnant, because in that season generally all the husbands become impelled by sex desire. This is exactly like the transcendentalists who, by the grace of the Supreme Lord, are bestowed with the benediction of their destinations in life. Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī has instructed in his Upadeśāmṛta that one should follow devotional service with great enthusiasm, patience and conviction and should follow the rules and regulations, keep oneself clean from material contamination and stay in the association of devotees. By following these principles, one is sure to achieve the desired result of devotional service. For he who patiently follows the regulative principles of devotional service, the time will come when he will achieve the result, as the wives who reap results by becoming pregnant.
