We regret to advise our Sun readers that a warning must go out, regarding a person known to many devotees by the name David Bruce Hughes, also known as Gaurahari das Babaji and Das Anudas Babaji. For some years he lived at an ISKCON rural project in the Southeast U.S., but left (with encouragement) when his preaching began to go ‘off’. Prior to that, the Sun had published a few of his articles, mostly news items on the farm community.
Today, we have been informed that a scandal of the worst kind has hit the Internet regarding Hughes. It involves extremely debased sexual deviancy involving himself and at least one other demon in the disguise of a devotee. Explicit photographs and videos of his activities have been leaked and are proliferating on the Net. They are so foul we cannot publish even an example. We encourage the reader not to seek them out, view them, or allow them to contaminate your own consciousness. Please take our word for it — David Bruce Hughes and everything that he is associated with should be avoided like the plague.
Unfortunately, between bouts of serious madness in recent years, he has been populating YouTube with “preaching” videos that are now contaminating countless people who listen to them. His primary website, EsotericTeaching.org, has been taken offline. We hope his BhaktiMasterclass.org also disappears from view. All due pressure should be put on YouTube to remove his channel and material, which exploits Srila Prabhupada’s and Sri Krsna’s good Names, and stains all that it comes in contact with, particularly in the eyes of uninformed persons who access them and associate them with Krsna consciousness.

COMMENT: Actually we must correct the Sun editor on one point. David Bruce Hughes is believed to be on the run from Indian authorities. Had he remained in India, he would have surely been jailed for all the activities he carried out under the guise of devotional service and Kṛṣṇa Consciousness. He is currently believed to be hiding in Norway with his brainwashed disciple / homosexual lover Conor Ryan a.k.a Kānāi Dāsa.
What can be done? It is clear that David Bruce Hughes is just one among many professional psychopaths who ruin the Vaishnava community. I personally have absolutely no solution to these psychopaths posing as Vaishnavas. They seem to be especially attracted to Vaishnavism, because of the opportunity to be worshiped as good as God. The uneducated or neophyte devotees fall prey to their lies, that they are the successors to Srila Prabhupada.
The resulting sex and money scandals have ruined the public image of KC to a point that I personally do not even want to be associated with ISKCON. Bad things happen… But I think for these nefarious “devotees” there will be a appropriate punishment when they have to face Yamaraja.
Until then all we can do is to be on the watch for the signs of psychopathy and take appropriate steps to protect our own spiritual and material life from the devastating influence of these demons posing as devotees.
David Bruce Hughes has violated the trust of numerous devotees, he destroyed the Sanga. Disobeyed Srila Prabhupada orders, by breaking the rules of Bhakti. Under his order numerous sinful activities were done, like giving drugs to disciples, DBH had illicit sex with disciples, lying and cheating business etc. You name it DBH did it. My reading of the Gaudiya philosophy is more in line with the Bauls and Sahajiyas. I admit, I have always thought like that. I always felt that the offering of oneself to the Lord has to be complete, including all the active senses. It never felt right to hold back one part of myself when He was directly demanding me to offer everything. I am just the way He made me, nothing else.
I am deeply sorry for any inconvenience to anyone. If anyone thinks I deliberately misled them, I am sorry but I never made a secret of my background, orientation and practices. As Maha-marga recently pointed out, at least the senior members knew more or less everything from the beginning. Uddhava, Nava-yauvana and others have to be truthful and admit their role. Nava-yauvana especially is under the influence of Andrej and is blowing smoke, trying to cover up what he knew all the way back in Mexico.
It’s just that decent people don’t inquire unnecessarily into things that are none of their business. And even if they happen upon an indiscretion, they especially don’t make the information public but handle things discreetly behind the scenes. The more noise the devotees make about this case, the worse that damage to the movement of Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu will be. So it’s up to you, you can have as big a scandal as you want.
