Welcome to the Month of Damodar, Kartik!

Hare Krishna,

we are in the middle of the month of Damodar. This is a very auspicious time, also called Kartik. During this time the benefits of any devotional activities that we perform have greatly increased potency therefore at this time in India many devotees flock to Vrindavan and other places of pilgrimage to perform devotional activities and benefit from the increased potency of this month.

The benefits of the month of Damodar are available everwhere, not just in Vrindavan. So the current time is a very auspicious time and a very good time for us to rededicate ourselves to serving Srila Prabhupada and Krishna and to rededicate and recommit to our initiation vows and this auspicious month wiill help give us the strength and determination to follow through on our vows.

The only point of our existence in this material world, the only worthwile activity we can perform, is Krishna consciousness. By serving Srila Prabhupada and Krishna and chanting Hare Krishna we will can purify all the dirty things in our hearts and gradually uncover our original blissful Krishna consciousness.

Once we achieve Krishna Consciousness, even while still remaining in these material bodies, seemingling still in the material world, we will be transcendental to the distress and so-called happiness in the material world and situated on the spiritual platform.

This is a very wonderful and ordinarly a very difficult position to reach, but for us, by the mercy of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, it has become very simple.

Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu is called patita pavana, “the deliverer of the most fallen.” He is so merciful. So merciful that it does not matter how fallen we are, if we simply surrender to Srila Prabhupada and follow the instructions he is giving us in his books we can very easily reach this rare and exalted position of love of God and actuall experience the transcendental bliss and knowledge that entails.
