The Tech Laureates are 15 global innovators recognised each year for applying technology to benefit humanity. Established in 2000, these Awards chooses laureates in five universal categories: education, equality, environment, economic development and health. Askhaya Patra has been chosen in the education category..
Madhu Pandit Das, chairperson of the Akshaya Patra Foundation, attributed the award to the entire team including cooks, helpers, drivers, cleaners, supervisors, security personnel, managers, accountants, clerks, fund raisers, ISKCON missionaries, trusties and donors.
“We are humbled by this honour. It is the whole team that makes preparing and reaching of meals happen every day to a million children in the country,” he said.
The Akshaya Patra provides midday meals to over 5,700 government schools in over seven states of India Peter Friess, president of The Tech Museum, called the global challenges of the day more deeply rooted.
“Still there is hope. These incredibly impressive Laureates have all proven to be equal to or better than, the challenge to make the world a better place.”
