SWAMI DINING ETIQUETTE

Dear Prabhus,

Some, if not many, of our ISKCON Swamis have displayed tremendous voraciousness when it comes to their eating habits. Mannerless, rude and inconsiderate, such shameless pigs in saffron have made it a habit to demand special food preparations even as the helpless children of ISKCON in the Gurukulas next door were starved.

Recent scientific studies by experts on the subject of gluttony have concluded that after visiting India, hungry swamis learned their dining manners from that country’s monkeys. It is said, “Monkeys see as monkeys do.” According to Prof. H.V. Hridgilkar of the Mumbai Institute of Gluttonology, it appears that “ISKCON’s sannyasis do as the monkeys, too.” Have a look:

Prabhupada says that if you need to get rid of an unwanted guest, just don’t feed him (them). Keep that in mind the next time a horde of hungry swamis shows up at your door demanding a special feast. Give them water and maybe a bowl of kicheri if they’re lucky.
