Dear Ekanatha Prabhu
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
One of your frustrated translators sent me a file that you have sent in desperation asking me if I could make it understandable so it can be transcribed…
I have looked at the file and you are sending your new transcribers very bad raw files that have had no digital processing done on them at all!
You have maybe 700 files to choose from. At least for their first few files you could send something that is reasonably clear.
In this particular file the original tape seems to be recorded at a much too low level. So the tape hiss is overwhelming. It makes it very difficult to understand.
As you know of course digital processing is good at removing tape hiss. It can not remove it all, but it can dramatically reduce it without effecting the voices very much. You take a noise print of the hiss and apply that noise print to the whole tape as the hiss is constant all the way through the recording. And the result is a much clearer and easier to understand recording.
It is not a very good plan Prabhu? Sending unprocessed, almost incomprehensible files to your new transcribers that you know they will not be able to understand? When you can significantly improve the tapes digitally and send them much clearer recordings that are easier to transcribe?
First you need to release the recordings. You can release the files in flac format as Pratyatosa Prabhu suggested and let us help you fix them. Then when we have good, clear recordings the transcribers can actually transcribe them… The first step is to release all the material. The next step is to digitally process it. And we can help you with that. The next step is to transcribe it. This can be all very easily coordinated through a website that I can help you set up if you are prepared to work on this in a cooperative way.
Also why send stereo files? It is recorded in mono? You can send mono files and get the same quality, the files will only be half the size and people will only have to download a 50 mb file instead of a 100 mb file? Very good for people like me in India…
Anyhow I am surprised and do not really understand why you are doing this. Sending unintelligible files to new transcribers when when you have plenty of clearer recordings and you have not even tried to digitally improve these recordings you are sending out… You need help with this Prabhu. Please accept the offers of help. That is our service. To engage others in the service of Srila Prabhupada and Krishna. Not that you lock everything up in the archives and you try to do everything yourselves…

The Unreleased Audio Recordings of Srila Prabhupada

The Bhaktivedanta Archives / Ekanath Prabhu has admitted to suppressing many hundreds of never before released to the public audio recordings of Srila Prabhupada. Much of this audio is not transcribed, on the Vedabase or published in a book etc or on tape/CD.
I have personally gone to the Bhaktivedanta Archives and offered to pay them anything they asked to simply make me copies of these recordings in their present state (edited or unedited) but they refused. Other devotees have offered to volunteer to help them and offered them equipment and money to help in the work of processing this audio but they have been refused. So As Ekanatha stated in his article (see above for links) they are refusing to allow devotees access to all this audio of Srila Prabhupada, even though this is in direct violation to the Bhaktivedanta Archives’ own official mission statement. In that statement in section 3 it clearly says, “At the Bhaktivedanta Archives we want to prevent something like this happening by making copies of everything we have, available to as many people as possible, in as many places as possible, around the world.”
After I (along with many other devotees) was repeatedly refused access to these teachings of Srila Prabhupada I sent this information in the form of an article to dandavats.com and the sampradayasun.com. (see above for links to the articles). Unfortunately, it appears that nothing happened and these teachings of Srila Prabhupada are still being suppressed by the Bhaktivedanta Archives.
So I am presenting these facts before your lotus feet with a straw between my teeth humbly suggesting that we all join together and forward this email and the news of these suppressed recordings and instructions of Srila Prabhupada to everyone and let the hidden lectures be released NOW!
Please, if you know (or are) a influential person, GBC, sannysi, guru or temple president, anyone, let everyone know about this (forward this message to everyone you can) and do the needful to have these lectures available to all devotees now. We all can join together so that the Archives will release these hidden files of Srila Prabhupada, our Acharya.
Please bring this up with your GBC, temple president, God brothers and sisters and everyone. If everyone comes together and calls the Archives (336-871-3636) and emails Ekanatha Prabhu (he posted his email address publicly (in his article, see below for a link to it) so that you can contact him with your requests for it to be released) then The Archives will know that they must release this hidden audio of Srila Prabhupada. So pass this email on to everyone you can. And get ready to hear Hundreds of never before released or transcribed audio of Srila Prabhupada!
