Prabhupada: You Can Cheat, But it Will Not be Effective

Prabhupada: Then you’ll not be effective. You can cheat, but it will not be effective. Just see our Gaudiya Matha. Everyone wanted to become guru, and a small temple and “guru.” What kind of guru?

(SUN) — Margaret Connors gives following quote in her  article, ” What is an Uttama Adhikari “:

    • NOI 5 Purport: “Out of many such Vaisnavas, one may be found to be very seriously engaged in the service of the Lord and strictly following all the regulative principles, chanting the prescribed number of rounds on japa beads and always thinking of how to expand the Krsna consciousness movement. Such a Vaisnava should be accepted as an uttama-adhikari, a highly advanced devotee, and his association should always be sought”.

and then declares:

“It is safe to say that there are many such sincere and serious devotees all over the world serving Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s mission and we are all most fortunate to have their association.”

Where were they then, and where are they now when:

    • (1) More than 90% of Srila Prabhupada’s disciples were driven away or left discouraged?

(2) Thousands of disciples of self-proclaimed and Rubber-stamped gurus came and have gone away?

(3) BTG distribution has gone down from ONE MILLION a MONTH in 1975 to almost nothing now?

(4) Distribution of Books, Prasadam, and Hari Nama have come to a near halt?

(5) Temples in North America, Western Europe, Australia, Latin America, and Africa have become empty or have disappeared?

(6) The Child Protection Office had a list of more than 200 abusers/molesters and more than 1,000 abused/molested children, but not much has been done to abusers?

So what have these sincere and serious devotees done in the past and what are they doing now to protect and expand the inherited assets of ISKCON, except looking other way? Ask those who were driven away and abused if they want to associate with these uttama-adhikari leaders.

Then Margaret makes her endorsement of the current “Guru Rubber-stamping Factory”. She writes:

“It is safe to say that the leaders of ISKCON make their best efforts to ensure that such valuable devotees who meet the above mentioned qualifications are carefully selected to represent Srila Prabhupada and his mission.”

Note that she does not use the word “GBC” or “Guru” in her sentence.

Note that the best efforts of ISKCON leaders first gave us 11 tyrant ‘maha-bhagavatas’ and the current Guru Rubber-stamping Factory has given us at least 30 blooped gurus and untold destruction, as itemized above. The best efforts these GBCs and Gurus make is to hide their crimes and hang their victims.

If I was initiated by the first fallen guru and then took re-initiation by the next fallen guru, and continued to do so in that manner, then by now I would have been re-initiated 40 times. Would I remember my 40 spiritual names? Would you remember my 40 names? Would any of us remember names of 40 temple presidents who performed fire sacrifices and the 40 dates when I took re-initiation? I would be like a prostitute who would not know who is the father of each of her children. Are these the desirable results of the best efforts of ISKCON Leaders?

Let us see what HDG Srila Prabhupada has to say about this Guru Rubber-stamping Factory.

On April 22, 1977, Srila Prabhupada had the following conversation where he calls rubber-stamping of gurus by voting to be “cheating“, and declares that it will not be effective:

Prabhupada:

    • What is the use of producing some rascal guru?

Tamala Krishna: Well, I have studied myself and all of your disciples, and it’s clear fact that we are all conditioned souls, so we cannot be guru. Maybe one day it may be possible…

Prabhupada: Hm.

Tamala Krishna: …but not now.

Prabhupada: Yes. I shall produce some gurus. I shall say who is guru, ‘Now you become acharya. You become authorised.’ I am waiting for that. You become, all, acharya. I retire completely. But the training must be complete.

Tamala Krishna: The process of purification must be there.

Prabhupada: Oh, yes, must be there. Caitanya Mahaprabhu wants that. Amara ajnaya guru hana. “You become guru.” (laughs) But be qualified. Little thing, strictly follower…

Tamala Krishna: Not rubber stamp.

Prabhupada: Then you’ll not be effective. You can cheat, but it will not be effective. Just see our Gaudiya Matha. Everyone wanted to become guru, and a small temple and “guru.” What kind of guru?

So only thing that is safe to say about Guru Rubber-stamping Factory and ISKCON leaders is, “You can cheat, but it will not be effective“. The list of destruction given above proves the point that cheating has been going on, but it has not been effective.

Despite these clear statements made by HDG Srila Prabhupada, ISKCON leaders have taken up the policy of “Kill Guru and become Guru” by hook or crook.

YHS- Gadadhar dasa

KILL GURU AND BECOME GURU

Srila Prabhupada: “I am practically seeing that as soon as they, our students, begin to learn a little Sanskrit, they immediately feel they have become more than their guru. Then the policy is to kill their guru and become guru themselves”. “As soon as he learns that Guru Maharaj is dead, now I am so advanced I can kill guru and become guru. Then he is finished.” (Srila Prabhupada 1976).

Srila Prabhupada: We haven’t got to manufacture. To manufacture ideas is troublesome. Why should we take the trouble? And as soon as you want to manufacture something to my…., that is DANGEROUS. …That you are singing every day, “what our guru has said, that is our life and soul.” …As soon as this POISON will come-suppress guru and I become Brahman-everything FINISHED. Spiritual life is finished. Gaudiya Matha finished, …VIOLATED the orders of Guru Maharaja.

…And as soon as you manufacture, fall down. This manufacturing idea is very, very dangerous in spiritual life. …Our mission is to serve bhakta visesa and live with devotees. NOT THAT YOU TAKE THE PLACE OF GURU. THAT IS NONSENSE, VERY DANGEROUS. Then everything will be spoiled. As soon as you become AMBITIOUS to TAKE THE PLACE of GURU-gurusuh nara matih. That is MATERIAL DISEASE.

Srila Prabhupada: Don’t be allured by cheap disciples. Go on steadfastly to render service first. If you immediately become guru, then the service activities will be stopped; and as there are so many cheap gurus and cheap disciples, without any substantial knowledge, and manufacturing new sampradayas, and with service activities stopped, and all spiritual progress choked up. Mundane votes have no jurisdiction over an acarya

Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Madhya-lila, Ch 1, 218-219

There are many jealous people in the dress of Vaisnavas in this Krishna Consciousness movement, and they should be completely neglected. There is no need to serve an envious person in the dress of a Vaisnava. When Narottama dasa Thakura says chadiya vaisnava seva nistara payeche keba, he is indicating an actual Vaisnava, not an envious or jealous person in the dress of a Vaisnava.

A jealous person in the dress of a Vaisnava is not at all happy to see the success of another Vaisnava in receiving the Lords mercy. Unfortunately in this age of Kali there are many mundane persons in the dress of Vaisnavas and Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura has described them a disciples of Kali. He says, Kali-cela, he indicates that there is another Vaisnava, a pseudo-Vaisnava with tilaka on his nose and kunti beads around his neck. Such a pseudo-Vaisnava associates with money and women and is jealous of successful Vaisnavas. Although passing for a Vaisnava, his only business is earning money in the dress of a Vaisnava.

Bhaktivinoda Thakura therefore says that such a pseudo-Vaisnava is not a Vaisnava at all, but a disciple of Kali-yuga. A disciple of Kali cannot become an acarya by the decision of some high court. Mundane votes have no jurisdiction to elect a Vaisnava acarya. A Vaisnava acarya is self-effulgent, and there is no need for any court judgement. A false acarya my try to override a Vaisnava by a high-court decision, but Bhaktivinoda Thakura says that he is nothing but a disciple of Kali-yuga.

A mundane person in the dress of a Vaisnava should not be respected, but rejected. This is enjoined in the sastras (upeksa). the word upkesa means neglect. One should neglect an envious person. A preachers duty is to love the Supreme Personality of Godhead, make friendships with Vaisnavas, show mercy to the innocent and reject or neglect those who are envious or jealous.
