BY: HARER NAMA DAS (ACBSP), Mar 22, USA (SUN) — ISKCON leaders are permitting land in ISKCON Mayapur to be used for samadhis for two devotees, namely Tamal Krishna Goswami and Jayananda das. It seems likely that more devotees, as they leave their bodies, will also be given samadhis in the holy land of ISKCON Mayapur.
Arijit das, in his recent article, “Cemetery Full of Neophytes“, questions this practice. The objection is that it allows samadhis for neophyte devotees to be located on a holy place established by Srila Prabhupada.
It will disturb visitors to see the neophyte burial grounds. Consequently, the faith of the visitors in the Gaudiya Siddhanta may also be disturbed.
Arijit das suggested that if Srila Prabhupada disciple leaders want a samadhi, they should establish their own organization and put the Samadhi at that place.
I would offer an additional suggestion: erect a black marble wall in the Holy Dham. On the wall, in gold lettering, engrave the names of all Srila Prabhupada’s direct disciples. Or instead of a wall, build a small cottage to display the names. In Srila Prabhupada’s house he alone should have a Samadhi and ALL of his direct disciples should be shown honor and respect equally, and without political bias.
That way, burial grounds for neophytes are eliminated. And Srila Prabhupada’s disciples are glorified.
